I always love a good deal, so when I can stretch an image or idea to make 2 cards for 1 I am a very happy bunny. Especially when it’s a larger piece, that I have spent a lot of my time & energy on.

That’s definitely the case with this gorgeous rainbow mandala that I coloured when we were on holiday months ago! I absolutely love the stamp anyway, and I was so happy with how this turned out but I just did not know what to do with it! So I just kept it with my stash of bits & pieces that I have made but haven’t found a forever home for yet.
I auditioned it for quite a few different cards but I just hadn’t found anything that I felt really did it justice.
Then one day last week I suddenly had the inspiration to cut it in half; that would change it up a bit and I had a vague mental image of a design that would use it. Before I could talk myself out of it, I grabbed my paper trimmer and in one slice it was done. Definitely no going back now, and I don’t mind admitting that I had a few moments of a feeling best described as “aaaarrrggghhh! What have I done??!” (Not helped by my 9 year old walking in and saying “aaaarrrggghhh! What have you done??!”)

I chose to pair it with this quote from a Waffle Flower set that I’ve been dying to use since I got it. I thought it matched the bright rainbow colours perfectly and I just love that it describes my addiction to pretty, colourful things.
I wanted to add some bling, so I went with this gold glitter card stock which I just love! A thin black strip to sit over the join and I was feeling really quite happy with this one! (I did decide to add some glossy accents to the black strip after I had assembled them though.)

I guess the moral of my story is that you shouldn’t be afraid to try something a bit drastic if you’re struggling to find any inspiration; you might decide you don’t like it, but on the other hand you might end up with 2 cards for the effort of 1!
