Hello Crafty People!

I can’t believe it’s month three of our squirreled away supplies monthly themed hop already!!!! 🙀
Time flies when you’re having fun!!!
This month the theme is Summer/Holidays and the supply is embossing folders! I knew right away that I had the perfect embossing folder and stamp combo to use!! I’ve had it in my stash for a while without having ever used it, so it honestly ticks all of the boxes!!!
I started by running a piece of green cardstock through my Gemini Jr with the embossing folder and that gave me this lovely tropical leaves pattern. I cut it down and blended some darker green ink around the edges. If I’m honest, I wish I had used an even darker ink because I didn’t get quite as much contrast as I would have liked.
I got an offcut of watercolour paper from my scraps drawer and used a couple of pink distress ink mini cubes smooshed onto my glass mat, an spritzed with water to press my paper down into. I did this a few times, drying each layer before adding another, to build up the colour and interest.
Once this was thoroughly dry I embossed my Flamingo and flowers images onto it with Rich Gold powder from WOW! I fussy cut both.

I embossed my sentiment onto a scrap of the same green cardstock I used to dry emboss my background and then I messed around with all of the elements on my card trying to figure out how I would like them to sit.
I eventually decided on the layout you see here, and added a thin strip of white cardstock to the top & bottom of the sentiment piece. I popped the whole focal piece up on foam squares onto the embossed background panel and attached that to an a2 cardbase. I added some white Nuvo drops.
I thought that I was finished with this card, but I just wasn’t happy with it at all. It was sat on my desk, still looking unfinished.
So I grabbed a thin paint brush and a pink and an orange distress ink mini cube and, using my glass mat as a palette, I added some additional colour to my Flamingo. I felt a little bit better about it then, but I must admit I’m still not loving the end result. It is just not my usual style at all and the colour palette is not exactly my cup of tea but hey, ho! You can’t win them all! 😅🙈

As I said at the top, this is a hop so please jump on over to our next stop which is the fantabulous Bory and give her some love!

We’re always our own worst critic!!! I love the bold and bright color combo and the perfect match of the tropical leaves and flamingos! Funny that we both went tropical in our interpretation of summer!!! While not your typical card, I think its always good to stretch our limits! Sometimes we find new techniques or styles we like, and sometimes it just confirms where our talents lie or what brings us joy. Either way we learn something along the way. You learned, if nothing else, that you don’t need to love your creation for it to bring joy to others 😊

I LOVE that bright green card stock! It jumps right out at you! Pink and green is a favorite combo of mine, although I don’t really *use* it. I hope you will come to some kind of terms with your lovely card, Tasha! Thanks for hopping with us! 🙂
