This month’s Build a Garden is this incredible Blushing Magnolias set and honestly, I fell in love with this the moment I saw it! So today, let’s do Blushing Magnolias 3-ways.

Blushing Magnolias 3-Ways

I kept the ink choices, colouring method & everything the same across all of my Magnolias so that you can see the 3-ways that I decided to style these same images. So let’s walk through each one to go through exactly what I did, but first here’s how I made the florals themselves.

1. Stamp the large Magnolia images onto a 1/2 sheet of Letter sized Neenah 80lb, in WOW Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink, and emboss in Polished Gold Superfine powder. Repeat this step to give you 2x sets.
2. Using the coordinating stencils, work through each layer, as per the layering guide, concentrating more colour towards the base of each petal, fading out to lighter. Use the new Fresh Dye inks for vibrant, beautifully blended colour.
3. Work across all of the images, and try using more or less of the darker colours on some of your images to give you a natural variation.
4. Once coloured, wipe any excess ink from the embossed lines and then die cut.

High Contrast on a Dark Background

1. Using a black marker of choice, colour in the white edges on each die cut and anywhere that white is showing between the images. This will give you an ultra high contrast of those vibrant florals against the black background!
2. Cut a 4 x 5.25 in panel of black cardstock and adhere two of your images with foam adhesive, making sure that they both go over the edge of the panel. Trim with long bladed scissors and reuse those pieces to fill any gap to give you a balanced look.
3. Stamp & emboss a sentiment in Polished gold, die cut it then adhere with foam adhesive to your panel.
4. Swipe your embossing ink pad over the edges of an a2 panel of any cardstock, be sure to take the ink in far enough that it will cover the whole area that will be visible on e we add the smaller panel on top. Emboss in more Polished Gold.
5. Once cool, adhere your black panel with strong double sided adhesive.

Gold on Black

1. Cut an a2 panel of black cardstock and adhere Gold washi tape, or a strip of Gold mirror cardstock, vertically on the left hand side. I used two strips of washi tape, and made sure to have them right up against each other to avoid any gaps which would spoil the effect.
2. Adhere the larger image to the bottom and the smaller image coming in from the top using foam adhesive. Trim any excess with long bladed scissors.
3. Stamp a sentiment in Obsidian ink and die cut. Adhere with more foam adhesive.

Black & White Backdrop

1. Cut an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, and add a strip of thick Washi. (The one I used looks to be discontinued now, I’m sorry. There are similar ones, or even patterned paper/stamps that would give the same effect. Think black & white!)
2. Trim 1/4 inch from one edge and adhere a strip of black glitter cardstock.
3. Adhere your flower, again using foam adhesive, and I turned this one to make it a landscape card just to change it up a little.
4. Stamp a sentiment and use a trimmer to cut it into a strip, pop it up on more foam adhesive.
