Crafting My Place In The World

Stencil Masking Technique | Craft & Connect June 2024 Challenge

Hey Crafty People!

First thing’s first; Happy PRIDE Month! ? Today I’m sharing a stencil masking technique, as inspiration for this month’s challenge at Craft & Connect, which is stencils.

I’ve got a video tutorial showing how I did the background and then I’ve got the supplies used to finish each card further down this post.

Stencil Masking Technique

  1. Using low tack tape, secure your stencil onto a panel of watercolour cardstock and apply Gold Hero Paste over the whole thing. (I wanted the Luxe of this gorgeous Gold, but for a more subtle effect try white paste or clear embossing!) Set aside to dry fully.
  2. Choose your Rainbow of inks and squish each one onto a glass mat to give you a pallet of inks. Spritz your whole panel before taking the ink to it one at a time to create a striped Rainbow. Again, allow this to dry.
  3. Cut the 3rd largest Pointed Arch Infinity Die and keep both the positive AND negative to get a 2-for-1 card!

Stencil Masking Technique – Video Tutorial

Positive Die Cut Arch

  1. Swipe an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb lightly with a wipe to give a touch of moisture, before running through your machine with the 3d Embossing Folder for some texture and interest on your background panel.
  2. Add the Pointed Arch die cut to the lower left hand side with foam adhesive.
  3. Stamp & emboss a sentiment from the XL Essential Sentiments set in Polished Gold. Trim this down and add to the arch with thin foam tape.
  4. Embellish with clear sequins.

Using the Negative Piece

  1. Trim an a2 panel of Glossy Black cardstock and adhere your negative Rainbow panel on, leaving the Arch on the lower left hand side and trim off any excess.
  2. Cut the large ‘Congrats’ die, using Glossy White for the shadow piece. Then cut the words from Glossy Black with thin foam panel adhered to the back. Add the black word onto your white shadow and pop up on foam adhesive to the black arch area.
  3. Trim a sub sentiment from my Fab Foiler Sweet Sentiments, to cover the white paper core, use a black marker on all 4 edges. Use foam squares to add onto the die cut sentiment.
  4. Embellish with bubbles!

Please be aware:

As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.

Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.
