Hey Crafty People!
I will always be loud about why I think Fab Foilers from WOW are criminally underrated! Here’s another post showing why you really NEED Fab Foilers!
THIS Is Why You Really Need Fab Foilers!
Each of these cards started out as black & white panels from the same Fab Foiler pack. Anywhere you see foil on the finished backgrounds was black to start with. Using a simple laminator, I applied Fab Foil onto the panels.
How do I foil them?
- Heat up your machine, whether it be a simple Laminator or something like a Minc machine. (You could even use a hot foil machine if you get the sandwich right, and I’ve seen Marion use an iron! But I haven’t tried either of these other methods, and I just use a cheap laminator.)
- Cut your chosen Fab Foil and apply it, shiny side UP onto your chosen Foiler panel. Then sandwich this between a folded sheet of printer paper.
- Feed this all through your laminator, folded edge first. (If it’s a fairly solid pattern, I like to run it through twice.)
- Allow it to cool slightly and then peel the backing to reveal your gorgeously foiled pattern! (If you have any foiling missing, you can apply a fresh piece of foil and run it through again! Or you can leave them for a distressed kind of effect!)
How do I turn that into these awesome backgrounds?!
- Once foiled, apply your chosen ink(s) this could mean ink blending or if you use Catherine Pooler inks then you can just go direct to paper!!! (That’s what I did, as it’s no secret that I bloody LOVE CP inks!)
- Take a dry cloth and wipe away any ink that is sitting on top of the foil! It resists the ink, so you won’t have any trouble wiping it off! (Don’t leave it to dry though or you might find it’s difficult to remove without using a wet cloth which will likely disturb the ink on your panel.)
The same method applies for all of these, so I’ll just let you know the foil I used for each one and then the additional supplies that I used!
