Today, I’m sharing some more inspiration using stencils for this month’s Craft & Connect challenge! I’ll be sharing how to create stunning neon butterfly stenciled cards.

Neon Butterfly Two-for-One Cards

1. Start by securing the Butterfly stencil to a panel of mixed media cardstock using low tack tape from behind. This will ensure your stencil stays in place while you work with the pastes.
2. Select your Neon Lunar Pastes in pink and purple. Scoop out a small amount of each paste and place them in a line across the top of the stencil—pink on one half and purple on the other. Be mindful not to use too much paste to avoid waste; at this point, you can always scrape the excess back into the pot.
3. Using your StencilPal, spread the paste evenly down the entire panel. Initially, keep the colors separate on their respective halves. As you swipe down, the colors will start to blend in the middle. Maintain the correct orientation of the StencilPal to ensure the distinct pink and purple split.
4. Focus on spreading the paste down the panel with the first few swipes. Once the panel is covered, blend the colors by moving the StencilPal slightly side to side. This will create a beautiful gradient where the two colors meet.
5. Carefully remove the stencil to reveal the stunning neon butterfly pattern. Set the panel aside to dry and wash your stencil straight away.

Avoid Waste with a Two-for-One!

1. Take a scrap panel of mixed media cardstock and place it on your glass mat. Flip over the stencil to transfer the leftover paste onto this panel. Use the StencilPal to swipe the remaining paste that’s on it down the panel. This will create a reverse color effect with a pink-purple background and purple-pink stenciled images.
2. Let both panels dry completely before proceeding to the final touches.

Assembling Your Cards

1. CARD 1: Trim the first panel down by 1/8 inch on each side. Matte the trimmed panel onto a piece of purple glitter cardstock, cut to leave a thin border all around. Adhere the matted panel to an A2 black card base. Add black die-cut butterflies and a black embossed sentiment on vellum for a striking finish.
2. CARD 2: Trim the second panel down by 1/8 inch on each side. Adhere it directly to an A2 black card base at an angle for a dynamic look. Embellish with more black butterflies and a black embossed sentiment on vellum.
