Today were celebrating the second half of the October release from Erin Lee Creative ? We’ve got a hop going on over on IG, and I’m sharing two different cards with the same theme, but the first was one layer and the second is dimensional!

One Layer Version

1. Ink blend your Cardinal using the layered stencil set and various Distress Oxides (linked below)
2. Ink blend around the edge of the panel, avoiding the Cardinal and branch; but there’s no need to be too precise to be honest, I certainly wasn’t! ?
3. Stamp a sentiment underneath your bird.
4. Add a beady eye with a black Glaze pen. (I love using this pen for eyes because it’s dimensional but it’s also really glossy so it gives you the slight reflection.)

All About The Dimension

1. Die cut the Noel word die from Vegas Glitter cardstock and stack 2-3 scrap paper die cuts behind.
2. Cut each of the pieces for the Cardinal from coloured cardstock; red for the body and grey for the other pieces. (Stack 2-3 of the body pieces to make sure that your finished bird is nice and sturdy.)
3. Ink blend a darker shade around the outside of the die cuts to give a natural highlight in the middle. To get the deeper colour for the wing, first blend red onto the grey die cut, then go over with black around the edges. (Again, inks are linked below.)
4. Don’t forget the beady eye!
5. Stamp the Nordic frame onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, in WOW embossing ink and emboss with White Pearl powder for a tone-on-tone effect.
6. Position the Cardinal to be sitting on top of the sentiment, and don’t forget to add the little dots above the ‘e’.
7. Embellish with red gems, positioning them where the berries are on the frame.
