Using Patterned Paper Stash – Collected Crafty Collabs July Hop

Welcome to July’s CCC monthly hop, if you’re on the right track then you’ve just arrived here from the lovely Tracey Schultz! The latest in a bunch of monthly hops intended to encourage you to use those supplies that we all have squirrelled away – no judgement here, we all do it! Each month we will have a different theme and this month is outdoors!! We will also have an optional, suggested supply to use and this month we have patterned paper!

Patterned paper is definitely something that I have squirrelled away, so this is an absolutely perfect shove in the direction of using it for me! I found the ‘outdoors’ theme a little bit tougher to be honest; I just aren’t an outdoor-sy type! The closest I get to being truly ‘in nature’ is when we go for family holidays in a caravan in Wales. So that was the idea I ran with!

I got 100 designs free from the Silhouette Store when I registered my machine, and one of them was the cut file to create this caravan! I opened it and split it down into each individual element, so that I could cut it from several different papers. I decided to use an older Dovecraft release called ‘Lost & Found’, which is all themed around outdoors & camping and just seemed the perfect choice for this card.

I’m still such a newbie with the Silhouette sofware, so I’m not going to attempt any tutorials for now, but I will for sure add some tips & hints once I have had some more practice.

Once I had all of the pieces, I assembled the van and used one of my Sketch pens to draw out the sentiment, adding a line to make it into a border style. I used the Offset feature to create a cut line around it and once it was finished I added it onto a piece of green ombre paper, then attaching the whole thing to a kraft card base.

I hope you are enjoying the hop and you’ll continue on to see all of the amazing artwork made by the other bloggers! Your next stop is the wonderful Mary Ellen Driggs

Please be aware:

As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.

Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.

  1. It’s a really pretty card ! Great idea to make you van with various papers !

  2. Finally made it around to you, sweetie! Your camper/caravan is so well done in all the fun patterned papers! You will love your Silhouette! I like to use the software to plan out cards, even ones that don’t use die cuts! Its super easy to use with digi stamps, and you can even scan in stamped photopolymer images to plan out your layout. While cutting out the image takes a couple extra steps than the Brother Scan N Cut, it is doable! So useful for making backgrounds too! OK, I’ll tame my enthusiasm! Holler if you ever have questions using it. Both Marie and I are ‘power users’ and could help you out! And there are so many tutorials online too! Anyway, I love your take on the theme and the sentiment you used is just perfect!!! ? Of course, I may be partial having just bought our first camper in January of this yeat ?

    1. Thank you so much! Don’t worry about it, I always spread my comments round over a few days! I find it way easier to hop in & out plus everyone gets a surprise comment days later! 😉 haha!
I am loving it! But I’m having huge issues with it too! I’ve been messaging customer service for couple weeks, had to send videos and all sorts! They have arranged a call for tomorrow, which they assure me will be a resolution to the whole thing!
It’s working great in some ways, but it isn’t reading registration marks at all, so it sliced into my mate the first time I used it because it didn’t get to the paper! Nightmare!!
As long as I manually move it onto the paper and I don’t care where on the paper it ends up cutting it’s ok, but be prepared to stop it if it suddenly jumps off the paper! Very frustrating!
It’s a bit of a love-hate relationship right now!! haha!

I will definitely take you up on the offer of help once I have a fully working machine though!
I have been using the software to plan my layouts too! It’s amazing for digi stamps! I used to just use Word, so this is a HUGE leap up from there! hahaha!

      Ooooh! Camper! Enjoy!!!

  3. Dang, this is cute! I LOVE the camper so much! I’m pretty sure I bought a camper shaped card from the Silhouette Store, but have yet had reason to use it. Same as Karen said, I freaking LOVE using my Silhouette program and the Cameo for card making. When I bought my first one, I had no idea how much I would use it, and now I wouldn’t want to be without it! ANYWAY, I digress…I love how your card turned out, and I am so glad you are hopping along with us! 🙂

    1. Oh, thank you so much!
I’m having a blast with you all! It’s great to have a theme and a supply…definitely encouraging me to use supplies I wouldn’t normally get round to!! (Plus, it’s nice knowing I aren’t alone with my craft hoarde 😉 haha!)
Yeah, I am loving my Silhouette! Well, like I’ve said to Karen, it’s a bit of a love-hate relationship right now, because it’s not working properly but I have a call booked in with their Customer Services tomorrow to hopefully agree on a resolution! *fingers crossed*

  4. Love your caravan design!! Wonderful use of pattern paper too! I have a silhouette I have to yet break it out of the box.. Your post inspires me of all the possibilities!

    1. Thank you!
Mine isn’t even working properly currently so all I can do is simple cutting with it at the moment, but I gotta tell you I am LOVING it!! You should definitely break out that bad boy!!! 🙂

  5. I love that camper design and the pattern paper you chose is just perfect!

  6. Sorry that it took me some time to figure out how to leave a comment! That camper is awesome with all the different patterns together!

  7. I love this card! What a great idea to split the caravan up into different elements! I was wondering how you got the paper piecing effect! So cool! Thank you for hopping along with us!
