Hey Crafty People
Today we are celebrating the release of the Adventures Ahead collection from Altenew with a super fun blog hop! I will have the person you should head over to next at the bottom of this post. Or you can head over to Altenew’s post to start from the beginning.
The hop will be packed full of awesome inspiration using the products in this release! If you’re already in love with what you’ve seen you can head over to the new collection page here!
I will have links for the individual products that I’ve used below! ?
I love the way the Watercolor Brush Markers blend on Bristol Smooth card stock; so I grabbed an a2 panel and added some clean, clear water, and then dropped in some pigment from three markers. I chose a gorgeous warm toned colour palette; Rouge, Warm Sunshine and Autumn Blaze.
I left this to dry completely, before stamping the gorgeous floral image from Inky Bouquet. I added the ink splatters around the image, and I absolutely ADORE these!!!
The sentiment is from the same set too, I love how it just nestled into the image so naturally.
To make the flowers pop a little bit more I added some very subtle shading, using my cool grey markers; C00 & C1.
I love to do this and when you do it right you can’t really tell there’s any shading there, but when you put it against an unshaded image you can see so much more depth! (In fact, I really need to do one of those slider comparison things to show a before & after!)
Giveaway!!!
$300 in total prizes!
To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $25 gift certificate to 8 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 06/09/2021 for a chance to win.
Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 06/11/2021.
I absolutely love these new Lapis Lazuli skinny washi tapes, these inks aren’t in my collection yet but my goodness; I gotta have them now!!! ?
I decided to make a feature of the different shades of blue in these tapes by creating a background with them. I started with the palest blue, adding it in a diagonal line from left to right, then switching to add another strip right to left.
I did this with each of the colours going from lightest to darkest and alternating each side, until I reached the bottom.
One of the cool things about washi tape is that it’s semi translucent, so when you layer them up like this, you get a whole bunch of different shades where they cross over each other.
I die cut a heart from vellum and I ran this through my Gemini Jr in the new Waffled Diamonds 3d embossing folder. I really love how that came out!!
For my sentiment I used the older Bold Greetings die set, and added some blue enamel dots to enhance the overall design.

This is the simplest of backgrounds made from the same washi tapes as the last card! This time I just added a single strip of each, again diagonally, light to dark, but this time I put each strip right against the last with no space between.
I stamped this new Greatest Adventure stamp underneath the washi in Obsidian Black pigment ink. I used my MISTI to do this because I knew that I would put too much pressure onto the stamp using an acrylic block; I wanted to preserve the awesome detailing on some of the letters.
I cut each of the Color Bands dies from Neenah 80lb and coloured them in to make a rainbow. I used two shades for each colour, putting the darker colour to the base of the bands. This gives the top of each band a natural highlight.
The rainbow sits against my abstract, stripy sky, and I really love how it turned out!!
Don’t forget to leave a comment to be entered into the Giveaway; I’d love to know which of the cards I made for this release is your favourite?
You should have arrived here from the super cool Tenia Nelson ! I can’t wait to see what she does with those washi tapes!!
Next up on the hop is Bridget Casey so be sure to head over and see what she has to share with us!!
