WOW! Heritage Quad Seth Apter Celebration Hop

• Create your swatches – Whenever I get a new Quad, I like to emboss large swatches of each colour first. It helps me get a real feel for how they look once heated — because let’s be honest, embossing powders can surprise you once that heat gun hits! These swatches are perfect for die cutting too.
• Die cut your leaves – I’ve chosen a few favourite dies from two different leaf die sets and I’m cutting into my embossed swatches without much of a plan — just making sure I get a good mix of colours. I also:
• Die cut leaves from cardstock covered in double-sided adhesive, then added Sparkles and Earth Sparkles for a bit of magic.
• Cut some vellum leaves too, because that soft contrast works so beautifully.
• Layer your leaf embellishments – Once everything’s cut, it’s time to layer. I mix and match the embossed, sparkly, and vellum leaves to create rich, textured bundles. You can see my layering process in action over on the WOW channel! I made six leaf clusters in total and set aside three to use on this card.
• Create a warm, textured background. – Using a warm-toned Catherine Pooler ink, I ink-blended directly onto a panel of Neenah 80lb cardstock. Once dry, I tore a strip from the panel — tearing instead of cutting gives a lovely natural edge with lots of texture.
• Add a torn vellum layer – Tear a second strip from a piece of thin vellum, making sure it’s slightly wider than the coloured strip. Adhere the two together using liquid glue and mount them onto a full A2 Neenah card panel. Leave the vellum overhanging so you can trim it neatly once it’s in place.
• Ink your sentiment strip – I used one of WOW’s Fab Foilers sentiment strips and added ink directly from the pad using the same Catherine Pooler ink. Fab Foilers take ink beautifully, and once dry, they coordinate perfectly with the background. Just give it a quick wipe and allow it to dry fully.
• Assemble your design. – Line up three of your leaf clusters across the torn strip. Adhere the centre leaf with liquid glue, then pop up the outer two with foam adhesive. This not only adds dimension, but makes it much easier to layer the sentiment strip on top without needing fiddly bits of foam behind those open leaf areas!
• Finish with a popped-up sentiment – Add your sentiment strip over the middle leaf using foam adhesive. It balances out the dimension and brings everything together beautifully.
