Today I’m sharing a super fun embossing technique using the WOW Pinktastic Duo and Dried Lavender. I love mixing powders like this to create something that feels a bit different, and the final result gives this beautiful marbled embossing look that you just have to see to believe!

WOW! Earthly Marvels Collection Celebration Hop Giveaway

1. Stamp Your Floral Background – I’m using a gorgeous slimline stamp from Scrapbook.com. It’s a big one, but it still fits in a standard MISTI! I popped my cardstock in with a sticky grid and inked up the stamp really well using WOW Embossing Ink—this is a large image with fine lines, so take your time to ensure even pressure and coverage.
2. Apply Your 1st Powder – Time to emboss! Lay some scrap paper underneath to catch the excess and start by sprinkling Sakura Bloom (the lighter pink in the Pinktastic Duo) selectively across your image. Then quickly flip your panel to tap off the excess. You don’t want powder running down the panel and covering areas you want to keep clear!
3. 2nd Powder – Now go in with Pink Sapphire, adding it in different areas, again keeping the application patchy and intentional. Repeat the same flipping technique to remove the excess, and be sure to funnel each colour back into its jar before moving on.
4. Add the Final Colour – For my third powder, I used Dried Lavender to fill in all the blank spaces across the stamped image. You could use more colours, fewer colours, whatever suits your mood—this part is all about experimenting and having fun!
5. Heat Embossing – Heat set your panel from behind to avoid blowing the powder away before it starts to melt. Make sure your heat tool is properly warmed up to prevent any warping or overheating of the paper.
6. Emboss a Sentiment on Vellum – I tried something a little different here! I stamped a chunky ‘hello’ sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black onto thick vellum. It’s a juicy ink that doesn’t dry well on vellum, which makes it perfect for embossing. I covered it with Pink Sapphire, then heat set it for a really cool translucent look. This powder is a Speckled Opaque so you’ll get that beautiful variation where some areas let the black peek through more than others—super cool over vellum!
7. Fussy Cutting Made Easy – Don’t panic if you don’t have a die for your sentiment—just grab a pencil and sketch around the shape first. That gives you a cutting guide and makes the process feel much more manageable. Keep your scissors still and use your non-dominant hand to turn the vellum—this gives you much smoother curves and more control.
8. Add Copic Shading to Your Background – You could totally leave the background as-is, but I wanted to step it up with some subtle shading. Using Copic markers in Cool and Warm Greys (I used 00, 0, 1 & 3 from both families), I added shading at the base of petals and behind overlapping elements. Then I added soft pink and purple touches to the smaller flowers—just enough to enhance without overwhelming the embossing.
9. Glue Everything in Place – Time to assemble! I adhered my fussy-cut vellum sentiment using strong liquid glue, carefully hidden behind the embossing so it wouldn’t show through. It holds beautifully and looks like it’s floating over that embossed panel.
10. Final Touches – To finish the card, I added a few clear drops for a simple, elegant touch. They complement the dreamy look of the embossing without distracting from it.
