Do you ever have those crafty ‘journeys’ where you start a project; thinking that you know where it’s going, but then end up at a completely different place with very little conscious knowledge of how you got there?
Yeah, that was me with this card! ?
I started by designing some card front in Silhouette Studio but when I printed them I couldn’t use any of them because there were smears of toner right down them! (My printer isn’t working right currently and I am waiting on HP to sort it out.)
So, I had this sentiment, surrounded by enough clean space to make it a small card panel so I grabbed a few random supplies and this card just sort of fell out of me, without much conscious thought!
I used some Heffy Doodle tape to mask off areas and create stripes, then I used blender brushes to add Distress Ink, keeping the colours separate using the masks. I used Peacock Feathers and Ripe Persimmon.
The panel was a little too slim for an a2 card, so I added a strip of black cardstock to one side.
One of the cards I designed on my laptop was a slimline with a strip of flowers running the length of it, and I managed to salvage some of the flowers from it.
I just used a Copic cool grey 1 marker to add a little shade to the flowers; I wanted to have white flowers but it’s important to add very light shading which is what will bring the flowers to life. I also added colour to the flower centres, leaves and wooden heart, then I fussy cut them and added to my card with foam squares.
Hey Crafty People!
Please be aware:
As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.
Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.
