Hey Crafty People

Today I’m taking part in a blog hop to celebrate the release of the latest Altenew Build-A-Flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia.
If you aren’t familiar with the Build-A-Flower, it is a monthly floral stamp layering series, and it is available as a subscription service.
I love that you get a large stamp set and the coordinating dies; this opens up so many techniques!!!
I wanted to show a couple of different ways you can use the set to get completely different results; so I created using the outline stamp and also without to get a softer look. *More details below!*

Bright Sunshine Yellow Blooms
Whenever I get a new BAF set, the first thing I do is stamp out a bunch of images in different ink colours. I love getting a feel for the new set like this and experimenting with different colour combinations.
I make some cards right away, then I like to store the extra images in the back of the stamp packaging to use at a later date. (This helps when you need to make a super quick card! ?)
I used bright yellow tones from Sunshine In My Pocket inks, with cool tones greens as a nice contrast for my leaves.
The background is made up from both the positive and negative portions of the Rippling Rings die, which I cut from the Ocean Reflection glitter cardstock pack.
I added a die cut sentiment from last month’s Craft Your Life Project Kit, and some black sequins to finish off the design.
Organic Background
I mixed it up a bit with my colours here, opting for Sea Shore inks, and warmer toned greens for the leaves. This is a really pretty combination.
I cut the Stacked Diamonds cover plate die from some blue mirror cardstock, and snipped parts of it out to add onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb.
This is a fun way to use a cover die in a different way, and I wanted to increase the organic feel of the background even more, so I tore the top and bottom.
I stamped one of the sentiments from the set onto some vellum in Obsidian Pigment ink and added clear embossing over the top. Again, I finished the design with some black sequins.
Using The Outline, But Not The Layers.
I stamped the images onto some Bristol Smooth cardstock, using the Obsidian ink, so that I could paint them with my Watercolour Brush Markers. (I find that I get much better results with theses when I use Bristol Smooth over
After leaving the images to fully dry, for several hours, I just covered the whole flower with the Warm Sunshine marker. Then whilst it was still wet, I added some Autumn Blaze pigment in at the base of the petals. I did blend that out a touch, using a little clean, clear water.
I repeated the same steps for the leaves; this whole painting session didn’t take more than a couple of minutes.
I added some black splatter to a mini slimline card panel (3.5 X 6.5 inch) for a super quick background.
For my sentiment, I used the same die that I used for the first one, but instead of cutting the shadow, I just put the sentiment onto a strip of vellum. This time I used Satin White sequins to embellish this design.
Next up on this hop is the uber talented Joy Baldwin
You should have arrived to me from the amazing Nenette S. Madero …but full blog hop lineup is at the bottom of this post for your information!
