Altenew Build-A-Flower: Wild Rose Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in total prizes)

Hey Crafty People

Today I’m taking part in this Altenew Build-A-Flower: Wild Rose Release blog hop.

If you aren’t familiar with the Build-A-Flower, it is a monthly floral stamp layering series, and it is available as a subscription service.

I love that you get a large stamp set and the coordinating dies; this opens up so many techniques!!!

I had fun stamping white roses and creating a large cluster on a tall slimline design.

Flipping the colour expectations…

This month I wanted to have a little fun with the colour expectations, because I really love doing this!

I started by stamping the outlines in Obsidian pigment ink, then I skipped the solid layer, and started adding colour with the second detail stamp; so each flower had the black outline and two layers of grey from Gentleman’s Grey family.
The leaves are stamped in inks 2-4 of the Green Meadows family.

I knew that in my arrangement I’d have one flower that would be furthest back and this flower would naturally be in more shadow. So in order to get a darker flower, I used inks 1 + 2 on the lighter two and 2+3 on the darker one.

The rainbow is two pieces of the Thin Rainbow washi tape side by side on an 8.5 x 3.5 inch panel of Neenah 80lb. Then I added the flowers and leaves using a mixture of liquid glue and the instant dimension foam tape.
To get the two leaves on the upper left hand side, I just snipped apart two of the leaves from the leaf trio image and the flower easily hides the evidence. ?

The sentiment is from the Wild Rose stamp set, and I stamped it in Obsidian. I love the juxtaposition of such a small, delicate sentiment on such a large & far from subtle design.
