Hey Crafty People

Today we are celebrating the Thanks and Blessings collection release with a super fun blog hop! I will have the person you should head over to next at the bottom of this post. Or you can head over to Altenew’s post to start from the beginning.

The hop will be packed full of awesome inspiration using the products in this release! If you’re already in love with what you’ve seen you can head over to the new collection page here!

I will have links for the individual products that I’ve used below!

Monotone Florals On Rainbows…

I stamped out the new Cartoon Tulips image & a sentiment onto Neenah 80lb, using Obsidian Pigment ink. (This isn’t alcohol marker friendly ink, but I knew that I wouldn’t be using much colour so I decided to chance it. Usually I wouldn’t recommend this ink for alcohol marker colouring as it can smear.)

Using cool grey markers for the flowers themselves, I added some shading to each petal. Then I used warm greys on the leaves & stem. This helps to show that there is a difference between leaves and petals, whilst still maintaining a monotone look.

I die cut the flowers with the coordinating die, but there isn’t a die for the sentiment, so I fussy cut that.

For the rainbow, I just used several mini ink cubes and swiped them directly onto a panel of Neenah 80lb.

I moved from left to right, starting with the red and working my way down through the rainbow! ?

This kind of ink swiping background is super easy to do and it looks so awesome when it’s done!!!

For contrast, I added black splatter with a Jet Black watercolour brush marker.

I cut the rainbow with the middle die, and the white panel behind it from the largest die; both out of the Mix & Match Frames die set.

Bright Florals On A Monotone Background…

The new Cartoon Tulips is such a pretty set; I love the large floral image and its layering stamps offer a really fun, bold colouring style.
I wanted bold, red Tulips, so I started by stamping the outline in Obsidian, and adding each layer of colour in turn, going lightest to darkest.

Once stamped, I die cut them and set aside.

For my background, I used one of the pieces of patterned paper from 6×6 Wildflower Paper pack.

I die cut it using the largest die from the Slimline Stacked die set, but obviously the sheet was too small to cover the whole panel. So I cut two pieces and I could adhere both down, easily hiding the join within the striped pattern! ?

The sentiment is from the Floral Thanks set in this release.

Instant Dimension Foam Tape did its job perfectly, popping up both the floral and sentiment. Then some enamel dots from the Essential black + white set, finish the design off.

Clean & Simple, Floral Thanks…

I love this fun, layering stamp; it’s so much fun to play with!!!
To start, I stamped out the main image following the layering guide; this really is so helpful!!!
In case you’ve not used the layering guide before, it’s inside the tri-fold booklet that comes with each stamp set. If you haven’t checked this out before, I really encourage you to take a look as it is both helpful & inspiring!!!

I chose inks from two colour families which I know look absolutely gorgeous together; Sea Shore and Cherry Blossoms.
I use these inks together all the time, but usually, this is for some bright, punchy, in your face colour. (Check out an example here.)
For this design I wanted to show that you can also get a softer look with them.
(Mountain Mist, Lagoon, Pink Diamond & Rubellite. With Obsidian & Fresh Lemon for the ‘thanks’.)

I die cut the thanks portion and stacked three white die cuts behind it for an eclipse look to the whole image, once that was die cut.

For my background, I cut the smallest of the Mix & Match Frames dies from Neenah 80lb, and adhered this to an a2 panel of the same.

The floral image is on instant dimension foam tape and I added a sub sentiment, which I fussy cut.
Some enamel dots completed the design.

Colouring On An Embossed Panel

For this design, I was inspired by Bridget’s class in the recent Altenew Retreat.

After embossing a panel of Neenah 80lb in the new Blossoming Branches 3d Embossing Folder, I used my Artist Markers to add colour to the image.

This is a really fun technique, and it’s surprisingly easy but just does take time.

I found that the easiest way was to work on all of the flowers first, then move onto the leaves, the branches and finally the bird.

For my sentiment, I cut the Fancy Hugs die from a piece of the Pink Glitter Cardstock and added a slightly offset white die cut behind it.

The sentiment was getting lost amongst the background, so I added a vellum strip behind it to help it stand out.

I folded the ends of the vellum around the edge of the panel, securing it to the back with strong double sided adhesive.
