Building A Bouquet
I treated myself with a new set of inks, so I just had to use them for my BAF projects this month!!! Autumnal tones may not be the first thought for these beautiful Laelia flowers, but my heart is set firmly in Autumn and I’m not even sorry! ?
One of my favourite tips when you want to build a bouquet, like this, is to stamp some of your elements a little darker than others. These elements can be placed at the back of your bunch and you have some shadow on them from the very start, which really helps set up the perspective of depth.
Also, don’t be afraid to rotate your florals, especially if you only have the one image and you want to create the illusion that your bunch has several different blooms.
I spent quite a bit of time fussing with the placement of all these elements, but once I was happy, I used some low tack tape to secure them all in place. Then I could lift them all and add some adhesive to the back of the leaves and stems, before placing them back down.
I worked up through my bouquet in layers, adding Instant Dimension Foam Tape behind the most forward sitting flower.
I stacked up two white behind one gold for my die cut sentiment.
Negative Colouring
Although these sets are stamp layering, you can use the gorgeous outline images for a whole host of other techniques!
Here, I stamped the outline in Obsidian Black Pigment Ink, and then I die cut a piece of masking paper with the coordinating die. (I left the stamped image to dry for a bit, before sticking my mask over it so that I didn’t smudge the ink.)
Once covered, I used the four inks from the Sea Shore ink family to blend over the rest of the a2 panel. I used the lightest inks around the image and then blended out to the darkest at the far edges. This gives you a really beautiful halo effect around the flower once the mask is removed.
There is quite a lot of ink, so I did leave it to dry before I added Jet Black ink splatters and then removed the mask.
I stamped one of the sentiments from the set in Obsidian.
Bonus!
Whilst stamping flowers for my first card I made a bit of a boo-boo, (actually I made a couple ??) so I was left with a flower whose stem was no good, and a stem whose flower was no good. So I trimmed off the stem that was no good and I used some foam tape to put the pretty flower over the not so pretty flower!
Instantly, I’m able to use what would have been wasted and it even looks like I always intended the flower to be popped up this way! ?
For the background I cut the Moroccan Lattice cover die three times from Neenah 80lb and I stacked these up over another sheet of Neenah. (Using layers of paper like this will make your card much sturdier but it may not be mail friendly as it does add weight.)
The sentiment is the Fancy Hugs die cut from Gilded glitter cardstock, layered over a Neenah die cut.
