Altenew Rustic Charm Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hey Crafty People

Today we are celebrating with an Altenew Rustic Charm collection release blog hop! I will have the person you should head over to next at the bottom of this post. Or you can head over to Altenew’s post to start from the beginning.

The hop will be packed full of awesome inspiration using the products in this release! If you’re already in love with what you’ve seen you can head over to the new collection page here!

I will have links for the individual products that I’ve used below!

High Contrast Vertical Slimline

I absolutely love the beautiful foliage images from the True Friends stamp set, so I stamped out several of them in Obsidian Black Pigment ink onto Neenah 80lb.
This ink isn’t actually alcohol marker safe, so I don’t suggest you use this if you plan to do any heavy colouring. However, I knew that I wasn’t going to be putting much ink down, so I did decide to risk it this time. (What can I say, I live on the edge! ?)

I used the Sweet Dreams markers, (from the Water Garden Artist Markers set), to colour the largest set of leaves, then Warm Grey Copics for the other two sets.
I die cut each of these using the coordinating die set, after I’d coloured them.

For my background, I used the Nesting Rectangles die set to cut the largest from Neenah 80lb and the second smallest from black cardstock. I like how this size sits within the larger one, so I adhered them with Instant Dimensions Foam Tape.

Stacking the three foliage images, but interlocking some of the leaves & branches, gives a tall & skinny focal point which sits beautifully on the black panel.

A layered black & white die cut sentiment on a vellum shadow sits perfectly over the focal image.

Embossed Ink Blending

I embossed several of the True Friends images with WOW Platinum SF embossing powder and then I used the coordinating stencil, along with one of the new Mini ink blending brushes, to quickly add colour to them. Adding a lighter colour over the whole leaf, and then darkening the area closest to the branch, so that I had some contrast.

For my background panel, I stamped the large Woven Stripes stamp onto an a2 panel using Limestone ink.

I embossed the sentiment, in the same powder, onto a vellum strip which I wrapped around the background panel. Securing the vellum from the back because that is a great way to hide the adhesive!!! One of the ink blended leaf images sat perfectly in the space to the right of the sentiment, and some Satin sequins finish off the design.

Rustic Kraft

I had two of the ink blended & embossed images left, so I created another background for these.
Onto another a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, I ink blended Limestone over the Mighty Corners stencil, purposely making some areas darker than others. I stamped a sentiment onto the lower right hand side and then I attached the leaves with some foam squares.

Once I had done this, I looked at the card and I just didn’t feel it. SO! I decided to change it.

I trimmed the ink blended panel down, being extra careful not to cut any leaves, then I adhered it onto an a2 panel of Buff cardstock from my stash. Before stamping the sentiment onto this panel, finally adding a few sequins dotted about.

Never forget – It is ok to change your mind!

Inlay Die Cut + Window

I started by die cutting the Mid Century Cover die from black and Gold mirror cardstock. Using printer paper as a backing, I fitted all of the black negative pieces into the gold positive and vice versa. (I only used one of the inlay panels, so I’ve saved the other to be used on a different project!

I ran the inlay panel through my die cut machine to press all of the pieces together, and afterwards with one of the dies from the Floral Halo set.

Using this panel as reference, I lined up one of the Floral Halo images inside the window and stamped it in Obsidian ink onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb. Then I covered it with a die cut mask and stamped the coordinating halo image into the die cut window.

I coloured the floral image with the teal & brown markers from the Water Garden Artist Marker set, before filling in any missing lines from the halo with the smallest Fineliner pen.

To get the window into my card base, I lined the inlay panel and die up in place on a top folding a2 card base, then ran this through my machine.

The sentiment is from the Bold Greetings die set, and I coloured it using markers, layering it onto a white shadow, so that it would stand out. I accented it with tiny images from the stamp set so that it would tie in with the image from inside the card.
I trimmed a tiny slither from the top of the a2 panel with my coloured image and then adhered that inside the card base.

  1. Very nice cards! I loved them all! Thanks for sharing them with us! Truly inspiring work!

  2. My favorite is the vertical slim line. The leaves from the friendship set are so versatile and the card itself is really elegant.

  3. You really rocked it out with the geometric backgrounds, it draws attention to the focal points from the new release. I like the rounded leaves with the angles of the backgrounds.

  4. Awesome projects Tasha, I’m especially drawn to that Vertical SL! Thanks for the inspiration.

    1. Wonderful cards! I like the last card- fabulous background die and pretty florals.
