Altenew Dreamy Bouquet Fabric Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hey Crafty People

Today we’re celebrating the Altenew Dreamy Bouquet Fabric Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes).

It was so much fun joining this brand new release, especially as it’s the very first fabric release from Altenew!

Be sure to check out the giveaway details below, and you will also find links to all of the new products at the bottom of this post!

Working With Fabric

I decided to use the gorgeous fabrics from this collection to make some fun backgrounds, and I tested two different ways of adhering the fabric to cardstock to make them.

I really liked both methods, and I’ve already got some more ideas of what else to make with these gorgeous patterns! ?

Mod Podge & Cover Dies

For my first method, I kept it really simple.

I coated an a2 panel of mixed media cardstock with matte Mod Podge which is just a water based glue. Then I put the trimmed fabric onto the wet glue, ensuring there were no air bubbles or wrinkles, then covered the whole thing with more Mod Podge.

This double application allows for the best adherence and also seals the fabric to keep it looking nice. What I really love about the Mod Podge is that it does seal the fabric but without losing any of the fabric’s texture.

Once the fabrics was completely dry, I added a die cut cover panel that I had in my stash from a previous crafty session, using Nuvo Deluxe glue. To finish the design, I added a stamped greeting from Mega Label Love stamp set.

GIVEAWAY!

$300 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $25 gift certificate to 8 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 02/23/2022 for a chance to win.

Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 02/25/2022.

Heavy Duty Tape & Pleats

This time, I didn’t want a flat background, I wanted to get more movement so I decided to make some folds in the fabric. I cut a piece that was 5.5inches wide,.and added a strip of really strong double sided adhesive all the way down either side. To make sure that the tape really held the fabric well, I used my bone folder to burnish the tape down, before I removed any of the backing.

Once I was sure the tape was adhered to the fabric, I peeled back some of the backing from each side and folded the fabric over on itself. I folded it so that the adhesive was touching itself, creating a pleat that was sealed on either end but was unattached in the rest of the width.

i repeated this, adding more tape where needed, until I had a piece that would cover an a2 panel. Some more tape and a few dots of liquid adhesive fixed this onto an a2 panel of mixed media cardstock. (I opted for this as it’s thicker, and offered better support for my fabric piece.

To cover the edges, I created a frame using two rectangle dies and adhered this onto my fabric piece.

Completing The Card

For a focal point, I first brushed some Gold watercolour, from the Metallics set, onto a scrap of mixed media cardstock (the inside piece from the frame ?). I purposely let the brushstrokes show, and left sections of the cardstock itself showing.

I cut one of the dies from the Just Leaves set from this once it was dry, and I added two other die cuts behind for dimension. This worked well sitting on the pleats, inside the frame.

The sentiment is from the Eucalyptus Jar stamp set – I really love the sentiments in this set, they’re really unique.
