Hey Crafty People
Today, the Altenew Educators are hopping along and sharing our own personal Secret Card Recipes.
So you’re going to find this hop packed full of awesome inspiration using lots of different Altenew products in a whole heap of different styles.
Strap in, and get ready for the inspiration!
For my Secret recipe, check out the graphic I’ve added below…and I’m sharing 3x examples of cards that follow this recipe to give you some different ideas for how to use it!
Example 1 – Extra, Extra…That’s Me!
I ink blended the background for this, but with die cut masks in place for a super extra touch! ha!
You can see the white space and die cut sentiment…plus there’s two shiny elements in the gold washi and paint splatters.
If you want to see in more detail how I made this card, you can check out the Wonderful Ways with Dies Class over on Altenew Academy.
My (Not-So) Secret Card Recipe
Fake It…Even If You Make It!
I cheated just a little with the backgrounds for this…I used one of the pieces of paper from the Blends 6×6 Paper Pack. So, there’s still ink blending, but I just didn’t do it myself! ha!
Again, this card is part of the Class at Altenew Academy.

Mix It Up A Bit
- Foil the gorgeous floral hot foil plate in Silver foil onto your chosen foilable cardstock (the one I use is linked below!)
- Using the coordinating colouring stencils, ink blend a series of Altenew inks; starting with the lightest ink all over and getting a shade darker for each layer.
- Fussy cut the image, right up to the foil outline and set aside.
- Use a debossing plate to add texture to an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, then add your HUGE floral image onto the left hand side with foam adhesive. I you don’t want to have the image hanging off the card, you can either position it more in the centre or cut off any overhang with long blade scissors.
- Die cut a sentiment from silver foil cardstock and stack it on top of 3x white die cuts for extra dimension. Adhere this directly onto the flower and add a small, stamped sub sentiment strip.

Absolutely fantabulous cards!!!
Beautiful cards!! I love doing my own inking but love the quick results of using pattern paper sometimes!
Beautiful cards. I love that huge foiled flower!
Beautiful ways of getting a blending look! Gorgeous card designs!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful card!
Your ink blending is just great. You really have it down.
Great colors and ink blending!
I love ombre backgrounds and your blending on the first card is perfection. But that flower on the final card is hard to resist. Beautiful projects.
If I were to try to ink blend like this over a cardstock stencil, I would ruin it by brushing it aside. Sometimes I even bend a normal stencil! I would just add a white die cut over the inked background.
Such pretty cards! I love your recipe. It looks like it leads to a great card each time.
Your cards are beautiful! I love the gold/white sentiments!
Beautiful cards.
