Hey Crafty People
Today we are celebrating with an Altenew Fine & Dandy Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway! I will have the person you should head over to next at the bottom of this post. Or you can head over to Altenew’s post to start from the beginning.
The hop will be packed full of awesome inspiration using the products in this release!
Marbled Foil Background
- Using Pewter Glimmer, foil the Exquisite Marble hot foil plate onto white cardstock and set aside.
- Cut each of the Scalloped Circles sizes from Neenah 80lb and ink blend them using the four Sea Shore inks. (Use one colour per circle, and use the lightest ink twice, putting barely any colour onto the smallest shape.) Attach them on top of each other, offset to create an interesting design.
- Stack three white and one Gilded glitter ‘enjoy’ die cuts and attach on top of the scallop circles.
- Stamp a sentiment from Bold Sentiments using Obsidian ink and then trim into a strip, attaching this across the die cut sentiment.
- Trim the foiled background down to 4in x 5.25in and cut an a2 panel out of tan cardstock. Round the corners of both of these panels, then layer up all of the elements.
- Finally, add three black acrylic dots to embellish.
Somewhere Over The Rainbow
I messed up a bit when I was cutting the gorgeous new cover die because I didn’t make my die cutting sandwich up properly so the whole thing didn’t cut. Before I binned it, I decided to try an experiment to see how well it would foil.I never expected to get good results, so I was super excited when I peeled back that first ring!!! ?
- Using Pewter & Copper Glimmer foils and the Fine Rings hot foil Plates, add some random circles across the panel. (Don’t forget you can foil over the top of previously foiled images…so have fun intersecting the rings on your panel.
- Trim out some of the outer pieces so that you get an interesting edge.
- Cover an a2 panel with the Rainbow Washi Tape, alternating the colour order until the whole panel is covered.
- Glue the foiled panel on top of the rainbow panel, using plenty of liquid glue, then lay something heavy on top whilst it dries.
- Add a trimmed sentiment from the Bold Sentiments set, finally embellish with some black stars from the Essentials Acrylic Dots set.

Rainbow Wreath
- Firstly, use one of the Scalloped Circle dies to cut from an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb – these dies give you beautiful stitched detail both sides of the cut line!
- Cut a rainbow of leaves using the older Just Leaves die set from lots of solid core coloured cardstock. Then add them in a wreath shape around the scalloped ring, using small dots of very strong liquid glue to attach them.
- Adhere some Gilded glitter cardstock to the back of the circle cut out and using Instant Dimension Foam tape, mat the whole panel onto an a2 card base.
- Using the smallest Scallop Circle die, add some interest to the centre of your wreath, by popping this up off the glitter backing.
- Stamp & trim a Bold Sentiment, cutting it down into smaller pieces then adhere to the centre of the wreath.
- Add details & highlights using a white gel pen and also a Starlight glittery gel pen, before finishing the design with clear droplet embellishments!!! ??
Two-For-One Rainbow Panel
Continuing the Rainbow theme, I’m also sharing this Two-for-One background techniques and I’m obsessed with how these cards turned out!!! ??
Start by ink blending your rainbow over a panel of Neenah 80lb, (top tip; if you make your rainbow diagonal you don’t need to worry about keeping your lines straight. ?)
Then cut that rainbow panel with the new Scallops Cover Die. (Top tip! Use a piece of Press an’ Seal to hold all of the small pieces together, this will make the next couple of steps so much easier!!! After die cutting, press a piece of Press & Seal onto the back of the die, whilst the little die cut pieces are still in place, and then peel the cover die cut away.)
Card One – Ombre Rainbow Arches
- Apply double-sided adhesive onto an a2 panel of cardstock and remove the backing, before taking this directly to the die, which is still holding the pieces in place. Apply light pressure across the back of the whole panel to ensure good contact with every individual piece.
- Lift the panel and check that all of the pieces are in the right place, this is your chance to fix any areas that have shifted slightly. Then place the adhesive backing sheet back and firmly press across the whole panel to really lock in those little pieces. When you lift the backing sheet you will still have the adhesive remaining visible in the areas between the die cut pieces.
- Place the panel over a sheet of copy paper or a coffee filter, and cover in Gold Dust Sparkles (Superfine Glitter from WOW Embossing Powder) then tip any excess onto the scrap paper to be funnelled back into the container.
- Use your fingertips to burnish the glitter in well, this will really lock it in place to avoid any fall out when handled by your recipient. Then brush any excess off into a rubbish bin.
- Trim the panel down to 4in X 5.25in and then add onto an a2 card base, made from 110lb Neenah cardstock. (5.5in X 8.5in, scored and folded at 4.25in.)
- Stamp your chosen sentiments from the Bold Sentiments stamp set in Obsidian and after allowing it to dry, trim each sentiment into a strip, right up to the black stamped edge; leaving no white border. (Top tip! After trimming, use a black marker to blacken the cut edge of each strip for a neater finish.)
- Glue these into place, using additional strips of scrap cardstock to add dimension and for a fun added extra, use different numbers of cardstock strips behind each one. Finally, adhere three white enamel dots.
Card 2 – Ombre Rainbow Arches Negative
- Add another piece of double sided adhesive onto an a2 panel of cardstock, then lift one edge of the backing paper.
- Place the bottom piece of your die cut rainbow onto this exposed adhesive, then slowly peel back the release paper, allowing the die cut to continue to gently move into place.
- Once you’re happy with the placement, pop the release paper back into place and burnish the die cut to make sure it is well adhered.
- In the same way as described above, add Superfine Glitter to the exposed adhesive. (Using two different colours of glitter is a fun way to add more interest. Apply Onyx to the bottom half then once you have the excess off, add then add Graphite to the top half. Allow the two colours to overlap for a smoother transition between them.)
- Burnish this glitter again, and then trim this panel down as above before adhering to a card base.
- Stamp a sentiment from the older Eucalyptus Jar stamp set, using Obsidian and once it has dried, fussy cut.
- Die cut a Vellum label with the new Label & Tags die and add the fussy cut sentiment using Instant Dimension Foam Tape. (Use some metallic thread sandwiched between the sentiment and vellum for a fun, extra element.) Then add three white enamel dots.
- Adhere this whole label onto the panel, using strong liquid adhesive, placed only behind the sentiment & enamel dots so that it isn’t visible through the Revellum.
