Altenew NEW Year-End Celebration Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hey Crafty People

Today we are celebrating with an Altenew NEW Year-End Celebration Collection Release Blog Hop & Giveaway! I will have the person you should head over to next at the bottom of this post. Or you can head over to Altenew’s post to start from the beginning.

The hop will be packed full of awesome inspiration using the products in this release! If you’re already in love with what you’ve seen you can head over to the new collection page here!

Whimsical Floral Frames

I love the whimsical style of these Daisies, and I cut each piece from different cardstocks that I have in my stash. (I didn’t have two coordinating teal cardstocks, so I cut both layers from the same colour and darkened one layer with a C1 Copic. This is just enough to darken it without altering the colour too much.)

I added a matte gold postage frame die cut and a bold, black sentiment courtesy of my beloved Mega Label Love stamp.

Pastel Rainbow Holiday

This card came together SO FAST! Plus, I absolutely love how it turned out!!!

So i swiped the new Frozen Delights mini ink cubes onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, letting them overlap slightly but keeping to rainbow order so that I didn’t end up with any icky colour surprises.

Once I had filled the left hand side of the panel, I ran it through my Gemini Jr in the Layered Snowflakes 3d Embossing Folder.

The new Fancy Yay die is so much fun and I cut it from some holographic cardstock then stacked it onto two from white heavyweight cardstock. I finished the with a sub sentiment to make this one a holiday card too.

Full disclosure; so I may, or *may not, have needed a whole bunch of Holiday cards, so I may have decided to challenge myself to make Holiday cards out of any & every supply I needed to use. (*I definitely did ??)

Mixing Floral Elements

I cut one of the Decorative Tags from the same matte gold cardstock that I used in the first card, and stacked it up on top of two white tags. The decorative leaves are really beautiful, but I wanted to add a pop of white, so I used one of the florals from the Flowing Foliage die set (again, I stacked this up two high.)

You might look at these two elements seperately and think that they wouldn’t work together, but the flowing nature of both elements really grounds them together. Plus, each seperate piece is made up of lines that are roughly the same width, which also works to help it seem as though they were made to be together.

TLDR: Don’t be afraid to mix things up and play with pairing different elements together.

the backgriubd is one of the Blends 6×6 papers, and the bow is tied out of some of the gold metallic thread. (Also, it’s not actually a bow, I just wrapped the thread around my fingers, several times, then used another piece to tie around the middle. This gives the illusion of a bow, but with many ‘loops’ that are all equal, which would be incredibly fiddly to do in the traditional method!)

Vellum Is So Cool!

I cut the other tag from 120lb Accent opaque cardstock, and glued a piece of vellum behind the floral cutout. Once the glue was dry I coloured on the back of the vellum with some Copic markers – just one pink and one green marker; no fancy shading required.

The sentiment is from an older mini stamp set that I had in my stash and I stamped it onto the tag in Obsidian ink.

For the background, I just added several strips of the new Gold Stripe Washi tape in a diagonal orientation.
