Gold Accent

It’s really easy to fall into a pattern of only using the full panel when creating with embossing folders, but don’t forget that you can selectively utilise it to create a show stopping element for your design.

Here, I used the Linked Ovals embossing folder to add fabulous texture to some gold mirror card from my stash; it really pops off the black & white background, sentiment and accents.

Super quick & easy card making

Contrasting my last card; here I did use the full a2 size of embossed cardstock, and it makes a SUPER easy card!

I am honestly a touch obsessed with these 3d embossing folders, because they create so much incredible detail…with so little effort!!!

I inked up the embossing folder, before running my cardstock through in it, so you get this kind of imperfect ink transfer that adds so much texture & interest to the background.
Easily finishing the card off with a die cut sentiment.

Selective Embossing

Once I had run through some teal cardstock from my stash, I used an embossing ink pen to add ink to all of the raised details in this beautiful festive tree design. Gold Glitter embossing powder looks incredible against this cardstock, and it makes the design really pop!!!

I trimmed it down and added to a panel of Neenah 80lb and the stamped sentiment is from one of the stamp sets released in last year’s Holiday Release.

In the end, I went back to the card a little later and added a simple, single line of gold as a border all of the way round and I think this really makes a big difference towards bringing the card design together.

Subtle, tone-on-tone texture

The Organic Stones embossing folder looks brilliant in black; a subtle tone-on-tone effect that gives the background some interest without being centre stage, so it’s the perfect backdrop for the latest Build-A-Flower, Wild Rose.

The Hello die cut is from the Seasonal Blooms CYL Project Kit, but there are so many gorgeous Altenew sentiment dies that could work equally well!

Soft Colour Scheme

I love the soft effect you can get when you ink up an embossing folder, and this soft cream with white florals looks so beautiful in real life. (It’s always a little hard to catch the soft beauty of this effect, but if you’ve never tried it, I really do encourage you to give it a go!)

The deepest pink glitter cardstock cut with the Fancy Hugs die is absolutely stunning against the cream & white backdrop, so I really didn’t feel I needed to add any other colour to this.
