I decided to purchase a couple of sets of the Altenew Watercolour markers with some of my Birthday money and I thought that I would do a really quick first impressions post.

I got the Spring Bouquet and Winter Wonderland sets and I decided to start by swatching them all out onto some mini tags of watercolour paper.

The colour from them is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I honestly can’t overstate just how pigmented these are. The colour moves well with water too, which is nice.

I was a little disappointed when I realised that both sets have Emerald in them; I would have preferred to have 20 different colours between the two packs, but I do like Emerald, so I will use both I’m sure.

I stamped out the Statement Flowers image onto some watercolour paper using Versafine so that I could have a quick play with a couple of the colours.

Again, they are hugely pigmented, which does take a little getting used to. (I should have embossed the image really, that would have helped me control the water a little better!)

I was really drawn to the Dusk marker, so I chose that and started adding colour to the petals. The colour/water did run away with me a little if I’m honest but that was 100% user error!

I managed to get this painted really quickly and I’m actually really happy with how it turned out!

I will carry on using my new markers and let you know how I’m getting on; but so far, SO GOOD!!
