I’m loving the gorgeous new Press Plates in Altenew’s November release and I’m using the Billowing Flower to do some mindful watercolouring in this month’s Release Video Hop.

1. Position your Press Plates onto the grey base plate and tape an a2 panel of Pebble Cotton watercolour paper to the clear top plate. Apply BetterPress Black ink to your plates, snap the clear plate in place and run the whole thing through your Platinum 6. Let that dry before you begin painting with Watercolour Brush Markers.
2. Working one section at a time, add clean, clear water to the entire area, place your lighter colour down then add a darker shade to the base of the petal/leaf. Blend that further out with your lightest colour then go back to clear water for the edges to give a nice highlight.
3. Be sure not to paint two sections that touch whilst the first section dries or the colour will bleed across areas. Just swap around where you’re working and let the areas dry.
4. Omce finished & dry, go around the edge of the image with grey watercolour brush marker, and soften out the edges with clean, clear water.
5. Finish by flicking more of that grey off the edge of an old gift card or similar.
6. Trim 1/8th inch off each side of the panel and add it, offset onto an a2 panel of grey cardstock.
