I’m really excited to be joining the Heffy Doodle Design Team and I’m sharing my first video over on their channel today.

Today, I’m using the fabulous Birthday Numbers die set, and I’ll be sharing two completely different ways to use it in my videos.

Birthday Cake

1. Die cut the shadow from Buttercream cardstock.
2. Block out the jam layer with your lightest shade, then add a mid shade with some irregular drips to make it look like that jam is oozing out from between the cake layers. Add you darkest shade to the shadows and then blend out with your other markers.
3. For the cake layers, add some shading to the outer edges to give the whole thing a somewhat rounded look. Also, don’t forget to add some on the bottoms of the cakes & under the jam layer.
4. Complete the layers with some bright icing, following the same sort of steps as for the jam. (Go back to add shading under the icing too.)
5. Die cut the words from that shadow, popping up the words themselves on 3xlayers.
6. Adhere all of those pieces back together to give an eclipsed look to your cakey sentiment.
7. Adhere to a white on white Circus Star background on foam adhesive with the candles on the top. (See how I made those candles in my video over on Heffy Doodle’s channel today.)
8. For embellishments, cut some small gold stars using one of the Lovely Little Borders dies.
