Hey Crafty People!
Today we are starting another challenge over at Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog and this time we are being sponsored by Fred, She Said. As our sponsor they have generously given the Aud Sentiments team a selection of images to use for our creations.
I chose to work with the Dahlia Garden Digi Set, (outlines only) which actually comes as a set of images but I chose to use just the large Dahlia image.
Colouring the Dahlia
I printed the image onto Neenah 80lb card stock using my laserjet printer and I used two of my Altenew Artist’s Markers in Mango Smoothie and Cotton Candy. I absolutely love this combination for a warm pop of colour on floral images, and the markers themselves are honestly beautiful to use. They blend like a dream, layer well and the colour payoff is incredible!
I ran another sheet of Neenah 80lb through my Gemini Jr with the (new to me) Big Dot cover plate die from Waffle Flower. I knew I didn’t want to use the ‘positive’ portion of the die this time; I wanted those stark white dots against a black card base for maximum impact. The easiest way to attach the dots is to place the outer panel over your chosen card base and use that to line the dots up correctly as you attach them. I used some black foam adhesive squares to add some dimension.
I fussy cut my Dahlia and attached that to my card front; I was able to use it to completely conceal the missing dots from the middle of the panel where the sentiment spot is on the cover die
I used some clear Wink of Stella over the whole Dahlia to give it some added sparkle! Then I attached a sentiment from a Graciellie Designs set that I had pre-printed & cut on my desk.
Once I had my sentiment attached I felt that it needed a black border to make it pop off the bright flower, so I really gently lifted it before my wet glue had to dry, I stuck it down onto a scrap piece of the same card stock that the card base was made from. I trimmed it down and then glued that back onto my card.
So, that’s my card for this challenge, now I’m really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with, good luck with the challenge!
