Clean & Simple doesn't have to mean white…

Hello Lovelies,

I don’t know about you but the more CAS I try to make a card the more intimidated I feel; give me bright colours and an excess of flowers and/or sparkly things and I am in my element but CAS isn’t my natural instinct. It was only recently that I realised that CAS doesn’t have to mean white. It might sound so simple, but it was honestly a game changer for me.

I thought these little images from Altenew’s Way Too Sweet stamp set would make the perfect focal point on a very CAS design. I embossed a selection of them onto some watercolour paper in white super fine by WOW!

I coloured each of them using Spectrum Noir Sparkle Markers on some and I used pencil crayons to colour in the others.

I fussy cut each one out and then put a layer of glossy accents on, which I think steps them up a notch; they become more of an embellishment rather than a simple coloured image.

I added a panel of pastel cardstock on 9 C6 card blanks, leaving a white border around each side. I embossed a couple of the sentiments from the set onto the same pastel cardstock and cut them out with a metal ruler and craft knife.

I just added an image and sentiment strip onto each card with foam tape to add some dimension and these cards were done!

I still had 3 of my little images and sentiment strips so I decided to change the design up a little for these last ones; I used a couple of brighter coloured card blanks that I had got in my stash.

Once the image and sentiment strip were in place I wasn’t feeling it at all; something was just not quite right. I decided to add a thin white border and this just finished off the design brilliantly.

I added my last image to a white card blank and just glued some strips of the pastel cardstock down the side and I was happy with that one too.

So I had made TWELVE cards in no time at all really. There is definitely one huge advantage to making CAS cards: they are so much quicker to put together!
