Today I have my entry to the latest Timeout Challenges blog; the theme is ‘Encouraging’, which I just think is such a lovely and original prompt! It can mean any number of things to many different people, and I’ve enjoyed looking through everybody else’s entries to see their own interpretation.
I decided to keep it quite clean & simple with this one, which in all honesty is quite a challenge for me. I had this floral heart in my stash of pieces waiting for a permanent home, I knew I wanted to use it because I thought the both the flowers and the heart fitted well with the general theme of ‘encouragement’.
It is taken from a larger piece of colouring that I managed to get a couple of hearts out of. It’s one of Hero Arts large red rubber background stamps onto Kraft card stock and coloured with pencil crayons.
I don’t go with a large white background very often, but I wanted to push myself to try something different; so I went with a tone on tone look, but to add a bit of texture I scored the smaller piece of card stock vertically every 0.5 inches and popped it up on some foam tape. I also decided to add two small & simple sentiments, which I think are encouraging but in a way that this card could be used for any occasion, or even just sent to a friend that you think needs a little lift.
I couldn’t help but add a little bit of sparkle with different gems as the centre of every flower and a couple around the outside to tie the whole design together.
It was one of those cards that came together really quickly, because I had done the bulk of the work already when I coloured the flower background. This was another one of the pieces that I made during our holiday earlier this year and I’m really happy that it’s found a forever home now!
One thing that I’m working hard on at the moment is improving my photography skills; this isn’t an area that I have any prior knowledge or gut instinct in, but I know that it is very important to have that ‘perfect’ shot in order to allow your creation its moment to really shine. Whilst watching a video by an Art Youtuber called Chloe Rose I saw that she had a code for a 3 month trial of Skillshare, so I decided to try that and I have learnt SO MUCH about the best ways to dress your photos and the angles to shoot from. I am really happy with the huge differences in my latest shots compared to my early ones. It’s nice to learn something totally new, in an area you never thought would be accessible to you!
Hey Crafty People!
Please be aware:
As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.
Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.

Thank you ?
Such great colouring on your fabulous floral heart … it contrasts beautifully with the crisp white on white, textured background … and the simple sentiment font is a great complement! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Time Out! Anita ?
