Continuing on my Silhouette Studio experimentation I made this heart shaped/floral beauty using ‘In Love Rose’ digital stamp from Rachel Vass Designs.

I started by duplicating the beautiful rose image, resizing them and mirroring some, so that I had a bunch of roses that don’t just look like the same image over & again. I love to do this when I want to include multiple images in a single design; mirroring them really does make a huge difference in the end result.

I created a heart outline by positioning two ovals and then welding them together into one cohesive shape. You can then add images or words onto this shape by snapping them together. The software will automatically transfigure your word or images to fit with the outline. Then you can group them all together to be a single shape that can then be moved as & where needed.

I added my sentiment into the centre of the heart; I saw it as being for newlyweds, so that’s the sentiment I went with!

I traced the outer edge, and then added an offset around the whole things so that I could use print & cut to get a card panel. I also cut the same shape, without the printing, to form the back of my card base.

I will definitely be filming a video in the New Year showing some of the Silhouette Studio techniques I have been working on.

It’s actually really easy to make a shaped card; I placed the back panel onto my scoreboard and scored straight across the top of it. I used very strong adhesive to then glued the upper parts of the panels together, at which point the score line becomes the ‘hinge’ which allows the card to open.

I coloured my images using Arteza professional colouring pencils for a softer look. Then once I had finished colouring I added some additional colour to the edge of the images and used a blending stump to give a soft blend that moves towards the sentiment & adds further interest.

I finished the design off with some gold paint splatters, using my Altenew metallic watercolour paints.
