Hey Crafty People!
Have you ever tried heat embossing layered florals? I started by embossing some WOW cardstock with some of their new powders, but I embossed half of the panel once and to get a darker colour for the first layer I covered half the panel in a second layer.
The powders that I used are all part of the Silk Road Trio, and they’re available on both the UK & US site now!
These powders are all absolutely gorgeous but the red, Pomegranate, has very quickly become one of my all time FAVOURITES!
Grounding The Elements
- Die cut the layers for each flower out of the embossed cardstock, (doing it this way round means that you will see the details embossed onto the die cuts, pressed into the heat embossing whereas doing it the other way you wouldn’t see that dry embossed detail.)
- Use strong liquid glue to adhere the layers together, and leave something on top whilst it dries to make sure that they adhere well. (I used black cardstock on the centres of the flowers.)
- Die cut the other elements from this set, including the two types of leaves from both black gloss and black cardstock. Cut 3 of the circles, 2x vellum and one Gold Mirror.
- Foil a sentiment with Matte Gold foil onto black gloss cardstock and die cut this.
- Onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, create a quick ink swiped background with some muted colours. (I love doing this technique and I use it all the time as an abstract background to ground the elements of my designs. Check out the Reel to see exactly how I made the background.)
- Adhere all of the elements with a mix of liquid glue and foam adhesive for some extra dimension. Two circles in the lower right hand side to ‘house’ the florals, and the other vellum circle towards the top for the foiled sentiment.

Please be aware:
As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.
Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.
