Hey Crafty People!
I always get my envelopes from Heffy Doodle, (they are great quality and an AMAZING price point!) The last time that I ordered from them, I got an adorable little Lion stamp set for free!!! So I made this cute, and punny, MANE squeeze card design!
Mane Squeeze…I just LOVE a pun!!!
- Stamp the Lion & crown images onto Neenah 80lb cardstock using Blackout ink, set these aside to dry thoroughly before colouring them in.
- Using Distress Oxides and blending brushes, cover an a2 panel in Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover and Unchartered Mariner. Starting with yellow in the centre, and gradually blending out through the other colours, with the blue deepening the colour right on the edges.
- Use the ink that remains on your brushes and a stencil to blend some leaves around the outside for some tone-on-tone interest.
- Add splatter to give even more interest to this background, using the darker Oxides and also some gold metallic watercolour. Set aside to dry fully.
- Colour your images using your preferred method. (I chose Copic markers, and I have the colours that I used linked below.) Add highlights with a white gel pen, fussy cut and set aside.
- Stamp & emboss your sentiment onto vellum in Gold Rich Pale embossing powder and trim down. (I used two layers of vellum to make it a little more opaque.)
- Add your Lion onto the vellum using foam adhesive tape and then adhere the whole thing onto your background panel. (Only placing the glue behind the image and embossed sentiment is a great way to hide it!)
- A simple white, die cut frame brings the design together really well.
- Embellish the Crown and card with gems.
Please Note: This Mane Squeeze set was a freebie from Heffy Doodle and it’s not on their website currently, they may bring this back but I don’t know. I didn’t realise it wasn’t available when I used it, so I’m sorry for that.
