More fun & inspiration for the new Catherine Pooler release!
Today I’m sharing this Snow Flurry using the gorgeous Snow Many Flakes die set and some gorgeous WOW Embossing powders!

Layered 3D Masking

1. Cut LOTS of Snowflakes from WOW white cardstock and layer each one to be 3 die cuts stacked. (We will use some for this card and some for several other cards.)
2. Press each flake into a WOW embossing ink pad and then cover in one of the Frosted Jewels powders; I made each snowflake have one powder, but I made lots of each.
3. Repeat this step until you have 3-4 layers of embossing on each one. Set aside.
4. Cut several Snowflakes from masking paper and apply these onto an a2 panel of WOW cardstock.
5. Ink blend over each one with It’s A Boy ink, then as you get further out from the masked flake, get darker with your ink colour; Something Borrowed, Suede Shoes and finally, Juniper Mist.
6. Once the ink is dry, gently peel off the masks to reveal white snowflakes.
7. Adhere the snowflakes over top of the masked ones, offsetting them to show a layered flake.
8. Stamp & emboss a sentiment from the new Snowriffic Birthday stamp set in Metallic Gold Rich Pale, onto Navy cardstock. Fussy cut this and pop up on foam adhesive.
9. Embellish with various sequins.

Taming Busy Backgrounds

This watercolour background has been sitting in my stash for several months and I hadn’t found a home for it, so I’m happy to be able to put it to good use eventually!

1. Drop metallic watercolours randomly onto a panel of wet watercolour cardstock, then before it dries, place the Square Dance stencil onto it. Leave this stencil there whilst the panel dries. This leaves a subtle texture to the finished panel.
2. To allow the Snowflakes to be really seen against that busy background, tear a strip of vellum and attach this across the trimmed down background. Adhere using strips of strong double sided adhesive on the back by folding the vellum around the edge.
3. Adhere three large snowflakes, one of each powder from the Trio across the vellum strip. Then add two extra smaller ones above and below. Keeping it to an odd number makes the design much more visually pleasing.
4. Stamp & emboss a sentiment onto Navy cardstock in Gold Rich Pale powder and trim this down before popping up on foam adhesive. (This sentiment is from an older set, linked below.)
5. Layer this panel onto an a2 Navy card base.

1. Die Cut the Snowy Window from Neenah 80lb and also from gold mirror cardstock. Layer these, slightly offset, to give a golden drop shadow effect. (This die cuts a window into a piece of cardstock, so trim the excess cardstock from around the edges and set aside.)
2. Using a circle die, cut a circular window, larger than the Snowflakes window, from an a2 panel of Navy cardstock.
3. For additional interest, score this panel every 1/8th inch, vertically.
4. Adhere this Navy panel onto the snowflakes window and add the Navy die cut circle to the back.
5. Die cut the Happy Birthday All Around die from more Neenah and gold mirror cardstock. Layer these with the white behind, and slightly offset. (trim any additional white showing around the gold circle. Adhere this over the Snowflakes frame.
6. Add some additional snowflakes, die cut from Neenah with a gold mirror piece offset.
7. Embellish with gold sequins.
