Crafting My Place In The World

Washi Tape Flowers: Cardstock Vs Vellum

Hey Crafty People!

I absolutely LOVE the gorgeous Washi tape flowers from Pinkfresh Studio, (especially because you can get a coordinating die that will cut all of the pieces out in one go!)

I wanted to see the difference between putting the Washi on cardstock and vellum, and see which I liked better. (Spoiler alert: I love them both!)

I am also entering the slimline card that I made with the Vellum flowers into Pinkfresh Studio’s January 2022 Challenge. (Swipe for the challenge graphic.)

I decided to go with the August challenge which was stripes but I did play a *little* fast & loose with the colour scheme! ??

Washi Tape Flowers: Cardstock or Vellum?

These washi tapes are so easy to use! This is the second one that I’ve purchased and I love having these gorgeously coloured floral elements ready to use whenever I need them!

The florals are much softer when adhered to vellum, rather than white cardstock and I think that I love it both ways!

I filmed a Reel for each card design that shows the direct comparison. ? (Be sure to head over to see the reels I’ve made!)

Vellum Florals

This is the card that I’m submitting to the Pinkfresh Studio January 2022 challenge. ?

I started with the Diamond Tiles background die and I decided to stamp it in Peach Fuzz ink, onto an 8.5×3.5inch panel of Neenah 80lb. Not only does this hit that stripes target for the challenge, but I love that it mimics a trellis for my leaves to trail up.

The stamp that I used isn’t big enough to cover the whole panel, so I stamped it twice to cover it and even though they don’t match up I’m happy that the die cuts I will add will cover that nicely.

I used the small fillable tag dies to cut two tags, with a sentiment cutout – I offset a white and pink glitter tag. Then I used some gold thread, wrapped round the panel and through the tag hole, securing it behind. A few gold embellishments finish it off nicely!

Florals on Cardstock

For this card, I made a small square cardbase, using the largest Folk Squares die – you can see how I made the card easily, by scoring one of the squares and attaching the two pieces by adhesive tape. (You can see the process in the reel I made for this card.)

I layered up the leaves and florals; gluing the largest piece onto the cardbase then adding more on to foam tape. The tag is just the other shape that comes in the same set as the tag for the last card.

This time I added a few extra leaves and some clear jewels to finish the card design off.
