For this project, I’ll be using the new Million Dollar Duo, which consists of Vegas Gold Embossing Powder and Silver Glass, the first of WOW’s innovative new Mixed Media Additives. There’s a detailed video explaining these new MMAs, but essentially, all you need to know for this project is there’s no embossing powder in this product. To adhere it to my black panel, I’m using strips of heat-safe double-sided adhesive.

WOW Embossing Powder July 2024 Release

1. I’m starting with the Silver Glass, pouring it all over a band of adhesive tape. I want to make sure that it’s really stuck, so I like to gently press it down, then tip off the excess. Silver Glass is super chunky, so there are lots of gaps in between where adhesive is still showing. To fill up those gaps, I’m pouring Vegas Gold all over, then tipping off the excess again.
2. I’ve been handling this panel quite a bit and must have transferred a bit of moisture to it, which is why I have some stray powder. That’s easily sorted with a dry brush. Now I can heat up that powder to set it all. (Or at least, I thought I had set it all.)
3. When it’s on an A2 card base, I’ll have a nice, thin border all around. I turned over the panel to add double-sided adhesive onto it and realized that I hadn’t set all of the powder because I ended up with it all over my desk! So I did give it a bit more heat.
4. I didn’t notice a few specks of gold on that bottom section, which was frustrating at first, but then it gave me an idea! Did you know that you can emboss with water? I’m spritzing the bottom section with my Fine Mister, then I can pour Vegas Gold over it. It does take a little longer to heat up because the water has to evaporate first, and that’s why you have to heat this from below.
5. Now I have that splattery Vegas Gold all set, I’m adhering it onto an A2 panel of Neenah Solar White. I originally had it on 80lb but the black panel is a little warped after all that embossing, so I went back in a little later and added it onto some 110lb, which sorted it out.
6. I raided my spares tubs and found a foiled sentiment that I like; this is a Pinkfresh Studios one. I’ve also got some spare florals from Pinkfresh. These are from one of the big, wide Washi Tapes adhered to 80lb cardstock and cut with the coordinating die. I’m playing around, trying to decide how to put them together, and I like to call this stage ‘auditioning’. Once I am happy with the positioning, I’m adhering them all with foam adhesive. I wanted a few more leaves to balance the arrangement, so I’m trimming them off some extra die cuts and using liquid adhesive to adhere them.
