Using Things From Your Stash! – Collected Crafty Collabs Monthly Hop

undefined Hello Crafty People!

Welcome to the first of six monthly hops intended to encourage you to use those supplies that we all have squirrelled away – no judgement here, we all do it! Each month we will have a different theme and this month is critters!! We will also have an optional, suggested supply to use and this month we have stencils!

I chose to use a new-to-me stencil from Catherine Pooler Designs but I paired it with some Hero Arts dye inks that I haven’t used in a while to create my background. (I ink blended straight onto a top folding A2 card base made from 110lb Neenah Solar White. I used three shades of blue to create an ombre effect. I love doing this through a stencil like this because it is so forgiving; if you don’t get the best of blends then that won’t be so obvious.

Whenever I stamp & colour a little image I like to do one or two extra and then I keep all of these in a little tub on my desk; this makes for a great source when making cards quickly. The only trouble is that the number of images living in that tub gets higher & higher, so in the interest of using supplies we have stashed I had a look in there for a critter and found this cute little puppy that I coloured a couple of months ago!

I knew I didn’t have a sentiment that I wanted to pair with it already stamped, so I had a look through my stash and I came across this absolutely PERFECT sentiment from Picket Fence Studios.

I embossed it in Opaque Bright White Superfine from WOW! onto a piece of dark blue cardstock that I found in my scraps tub. I balanced out the sentiment with two white gel pen lines and popped the strip up on adhesive foam tape. I added the puppy at the end of the strip, using wet glue where he is sitting on the raised bit and a couple of foam adhesive squares to support the rest of him.

It felt good to have this come together as quickly as it did; I’ve been feeling a bit creatively dry over the last week but this worked as a jump-start for me!!

As well as using this card for my Blog Hop entry, I’m submitting it for this fortnight’s challenge over at Aud Sentiments. We don’t have a DT image for this one so we are all using something from our stash. I hope you will join us in submitting a card to our challenge.

? Next up on our Collected Crafty Collabs hop is the wonderful Martha so please do go and show her some crafty love!!

  1. Wow, your card is so freakin’ cute! Love the sweet doggie and he is beautifully colored! I especially love that you saved him from the stash of colored but unused images. I’m sure he’s happy to have found his forever home on your card ? Great ombre background too, Natasha! Thanks so much for your help today and I’m so happy you joined my little hop group!
