Creating a Patterned Paper Effect With Digital Stamps

This month we have all had the same image to work with, so you get a few different takes on how you can use the same image!!

There are two ways to scale a digi stamp down without warping the image; either use the lower right corner which will shrink the image diagonally, meaning height & width will be affected at the same time. This is a quick way to alter the size, but it isn’t very precise so if you want to make the image a particular size the best way is to right click on your image, and select format. You can then select size and input the size you want it to be; you can only do this with either height or width, this then allows the object to be scaled down without distorting it.

Once I had the cupcake the size I wanted I copied it and pasted many times, then I knew that every one would be exactly the same size.

When you’re after a patterned paper look there are two things to bare in mind; start from the centre and work your way outwards, so that you don’t end up getting to the middle and having uneven spacing. Also, include some of the objects going off the panel edges, this makes it look more random, as if the part you are using is cut from a larger piece of patterned paper.

Once I was happy with the design, I printed it and used Copics to colour in each of the cakes. I chose three different icing/wrapper colour groups, and spread each of these around the page. Then I made some cakes chocolate and some vanilla sponge.

I trimmed the panel down and added a glitter cardstock ‘happy’ from Lawn Fawn, attached to vellum and I bubble cut this and finished the sentiment with ‘birthday’ stamped onto white cardstock and mounted on more vellum.

I popped the panel up on Adhesive foam tape and put it onto a standard A2 card base.

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with! If you try this technique please tag me so that I can have a look at what you’ve made!!
