Drama & Contrast

I absolutely love combining black, white & red for a seriously dramatic effect, and I just had to kick off 2022 with a sprinkling of drama!
To start, I stamped out the flower in reds, with some fresh & cool greens for the foliage.

I added some texture to an a2 panel of black cardstock, but don’t look *too* closely at that!! (It seems that I’m also starting off the new year with spoilers too!!! haha!)

To ground my images and sentiment, I cut a diamond of Neenah 80lb using the Fine Frames Diamond die set, then I add some clear dew drop embellishments.

Patterned Paper, Kraft Cardstock & 70’s Inspiration…Oh My!

To mix things up a little bit, I stamped this flower onto some Desert Storm Neenah cardstock, and I used brown toned inks for each of the layers to keep that kraft look. I also stamped my sentiment onto the same cardstock, before fussy cutting it.
I popped up both the flower & sentiment onto a vellum circle, using Instant Dimension foam tape.

Then I turned my attention to the background.
I was feeling a 70’s wallpaper kinda vibe from the kraft flower and I knew that there were some interesting patterns in the Wildflower paper pad. There are some pink/peach colours that I thought would go well with the kraft, plus the ‘busy’ patterns would fit perfectly into my wallpaper style!

I did choose quite a busy pattern for the full panel, and cut the Mid Century cover panel die from a much lighter & subtle pattern. I love how they look together!!!

To finish, I just added a few brown toned sequins from my stash.

Playing With Colour

I was feeling particularly adventurous after that last design, so I continued to explore colour schemes I might not normally reach for.
I used yellows and warm greens for my flower and additional foliage; my go to would normally be a predominantly white background so I challenged myself to mix it up a bit.

This rusty orange/brown cardstock was hiding in my stash, so I grabbed that to cut an a2 panel. I did want to ground the florals a bit, so I cut the Diamond Frame cover panel die from Neenah 80lb.
The stem is sitting right in the bottom of that diamond, and I even tucked it underneath so that the flower looks as though it is growing out of the frame. I wanted to add some more dimension to the flower itself though, so I used some more foam tape behind it, then added a few additional foliage pieces on either side.

A few white enamel dots finish the design.
