Hey Crafty People

Today I’m taking part in this Altenew Build-A-Flower: Giant Bellflower Release blog hop.
If you aren’t familiar with the Build-A-Flower, it is a monthly floral stamp layering series, and it is available as a subscription service.
I love that you get a large stamp set and the coordinating dies; this opens up so many techniques!!!

Insanely Extra….But, OH SO Worth it!!!
I started by stamping out the gorgeous image and all its layers onto Neenah 80lb cardstock, and when I die cut it I cut an extra for each stamped image out of 110lb. This just lets me add really even dimension.
The background is an a2 panel of the Blends paper pack – I chose one of the purple/blues but I aren’t sure which one it would be because I’ve only got a couple of sheets left now! ?
When you are adding multiple images like this onto a background you always want to let your images go over the edge of the panel because this gives the whole thing a much more cohesive feel. It also allows you to use the extra bits you cut off to plug any gaps around the edge – so win win! ?
i added a frame that I cut with the Postage Frames die set, and again I doubled this up to give it more stability. Then the sentiment is stamped from the same stamp set, on a strip of the 80lb cardstock. (I added some card behind to support it…I added different thicknesses depending on whether it was in front of the flowers, frame or just the panel itself.)
Mixed Media Madness
I started with an a2 panel of mixed media cardstock, and sprayed it well with water from my Fine Mister Bottle, both front & back. Then I ran it through my Gemini Jr in the Angled Mosaic 3d embossing folder. Having the water allows the fibres of the cardstock to relax a little which gives you a better impression, with less chance of getting tears.
Once the embossed cardstock was dry, I used some Distress Crayons to roughly add a bit of colour over the highs of the pattern. Then, using my finger I just rubbed to soften that colour out a little, but only rubbing horizontally to limit where the pigment touches.
For this image, I stamped onto the same mixed media paper, but for each of the layers, I spritzed the stamp to let that ink move a little. You get a much softer look and it’s just a fun way to use the layering stamps a little differently than I would normally.
My sentiment is from the Essential Sentiment Strips die set, and I cut it from some metallic grey specialty card that I had in my stash. I do like to back these die cuts to make the sentiment stand out a little more, so I added it onto more mixed media cardstock. Once I had it on the card, I decided that the letters looked too stark white compared to the rest of the card, so I rubbed a little of the Distress Crayon over using my finger again.
To frame the panel a little better, I trimmed it down to 4in X 5.25in and added it onto an a2 panelmof the same grey specialty paper that I used for my sentiment.
