Hey Crafty People
Today we are celebrating the Folktales & Stories collection release with a super fun blog hop! I will have the person you should head over to next at the bottom of this post. Or you can head over to Altenew’s post to start from the beginning.
The hop will be packed full of awesome inspiration using the products in this release! If you’re already in love with what you’ve seen you can head over to the new collection page here!
I will have links for the individual products that I’ve used below!
Geometric Free-Range Stamping
I loved this stamp set as soon as I saw it, and I just knew I wanted to create fun, vibrant backgrounds! The stamp set consists of a large square stamp which gives you the outline of the design, then you get lots of smaller stamps that you can use to fill in the image. So you really get to create whatever look you want using as many or as few of the stamps & ink colours as you’d like!
This was the perfect opportunity to get a little free-range stamping practice – a.k.a stamping with an acrylic block. I’m sharing some of my best tips for free range stamping with confidence over on my YouTube. (Check out the link below.)

Changing Up The Layout
I decided to create two cards with the panel that I stamped in my video and this design was definitely inspired by the wonderful Jennifer McGuire.

No Colour Needed
You don’t have to go bright and bold with the Geometric Botany set; here I stamped the outline design in a pale grey onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb to give me a soft & subtle background.
The two leaves are from the new Rosy Blooms stamp set; I stamped them in embossing ink and added gold embossing powder. Once heat set, I die cut them and positioned them on the panel, along with the sentiment band on some Instant Dimension Foam Tape. (The sentiment is from the Rosy Blooms stamp set too, and I stamped it in Obsidian.)
Light & Airy Watercolour
The floral image from the Endless Florescence set really is an absolutely HUGE image! I have it stamped onto an a2 panel of watercolour cardstock here, and as you can see the whole image doesn’t fit on.
Once I heat set the Obsidian ink, I added some light colour using a wet in wet technique. That just means that I wet the image first with clean, clear water and then added my pigment into that. (Using several Crisp Dye Inks, which I just smooshed onto a glass mat and then picked up with a watercolour brush.) I didn’t want to get a vibrant colour down because I wanted to give a base colour and then add details with colouring pencils. I really like the finished look that gives, plus it’s such a calm & relaxing technique.
