Hey Crafty People
Today I’m taking part in an Altenew blog hop to celebrate the release of the latest Build A Flower; Tree Peony.
If you aren’t familiar with the Build-A-Flower, it is a monthly floral stamp layering series, and it is available as a subscription service.
I love that you get a large stamp set and the coordinating dies; this opens up so many techniques!!!
I wanted to show a couple of different ways you can use the set to get completely different results; so I created using the outline stamp and also without to get a softer look. *More details below!*
To celebrate the release of this latest Build A Flower, Altenew are hosting a fun blog hop, the full list is below but feel free to head over to the Altenew Card Blog to start at the beginning of the hop!
Of course there are prizes to be won along the way!
$200 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $20 gift certificate to 5 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 06/07/2021 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 7 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 06/09/2021.
Bright Sunshine Yellow Blooms
I used the Pocketful Of Sunshine ink family to give me these gorgeous, vibrant florals; I absolutely adore how they turned out!! I added the Many Dots washi tape to an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, then I added two flowers, using foam adhesive to add dimension.
I added leaves, stamped using Tropical Forest inks and the additional element stamped in Obsidian Pigment ink.
The sentiment was also stamped using Obsidian.
Single Bloom, with Framed Accent.
I used Cherry Blossom inks to give this stunningly vibrant bloom, then I paired this with the cooler toned Green Meadows inks for my leaves, and another Obsidian accent piece.
This time I wanted a more intricate background, so I started by using the Dotted Lines Debossing Cover Plate Die to give some interest to an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb.
I cut the Fine Frames Rectangle die from some black mirror cardstock out of my stash, and I added adhesive tape to the back to keep the frames together. I added more of that Many Dots washi tape to a scrap of Neenah 80lb, then I glued the solid frames onto this washi panel.
I positioned my floral elements on the lower right hand side of the frame piece, adding adhesive foam onto the back of these as a whole, popping them onto the lower right hand side of my debossed card panel.
The sentiment is stamped with Obsidian again, and I added some black acrylic dots as subtle accents.
Softer Look – Without The Outline
This time I stamped the floral with the Red Sunset inks, but I decided to leave off the Obsidian outline to get a softer effect for my elements. I used the Green Fields inks for my leaves, and also to stamp the accent piece.
I chose a slimline style this time, and I used the Delicate Polka Dots Washi Tape to ground my elements in this design. I added two strips of the tape to get a thicker band.
Using the Waterbrush Hello die cut from black cardstock, ties in the black polka dots and the softer blooms look so good against these bolder elements. A few Satin White sequins finish the design to perfection!
You should have arrived to me from the amazing Colleen Balija…
Next up on this hop is the uber talented Laurie Willison and the full blog hop lineup is at the bottom of this post for your information!

Oh so nice and bright cheery colors
Beautiful work! Love all your cards.
The yellow flowers are gorgeous! I love your use of the Washi tape!
All your cards are lovely, but I’m especially drawn to the more graphic quality of your first two cards. I rarely think the larger size washi tapes are worth the purchase, but both of those cards prove me wrong. I can’t get over how texture-rich your pink peony card is by using a debossing cover plate die, washi covered panel, and the black mirror card frame without coming off as “busy” because you stuck to black & white. So, so pretty!
That’s so lovely! Thank you very much for your super kind words! ?
Gorgeous cards! Thanks for sharing.
