Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Butterfly Bush Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in total prizes)

Hey Crafty People

Today I’m excited to be taking part in the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Butterfly Bush Release Blog Hop.

If you aren’t familiar with the Craft-A-Flower, it is a monthly, floral layering die set series, and it is available as a subscription service.

Mixed Media – Ink Smooshing

  1. Using various inks and a direct to paper technique create coloured panels large enough to cut the various layers of the Bush from. (Sugarplums for the florals, Meadow Greens for the leaf and Caramel Toffee for the branch.)
  2. Before die cutting, apply double sided adhesive to the back, this will make it much quicker & easier to put together.
  3. Take a panel of watercolour cardstock and using some plastic packaging smoosh some Permanent Black ink across to create a mottled and uneven look. (Press the ink pad onto the plastic, and spritz with water using the Fine Mister. Then press this against the cardstock and press/push/move it to distribute the ink.)
  4. Die cut the side view Butterfly wing from this, along with the deckle edged panel die from Mix n Match Frames die set.
  5. Die cut the smallest die from the same Mix n Match Frames set from Neenah 80lb.
  6. Using the Essential Gel Pen set, add gold detailing to the wing and roughly drawn diagonal lines on the die cut panel.
  7. Attach the smaller criss-cross die to the centre of the black and gold panel using liquid adhesive.
  8. Position the floral in a diagonal from left to right, then add the Butterfly using foam adhesive squares.
  9. Using a T-Ruler, add a gold border to an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb.
  10. Add the die cut panel to the centre of this a2 panel using Instant Dimension foam adhesive.
  11. I used a sentiment from one of the Sentiment Strip sets, that was already stamped out and in my pot of Altenew sentiments waiting for a home.

Something A WHOLE LOT Different!

So when I said a whole lot different, I REALLY meant it! Also, this card is so, very random so if you have any further questions about any of the elements then please do ask!!!

  1. Cut the front facing Butterfly from black gloss cardstock and set aside.
  2. Foil the Chevron hot foil plate in red foil onto white cardstock, then trim the panel down to only include half of the chevron pattern.
  3. Ink blend Crimson from one side and Charcoal Suit from the other side, allowing them to blend but bringing the red further over then the grey.
  4. Cut the strip into two pieces and add to opposite corners of an a2 panel, offset from each other and with more on the top than bottom.
  5. Repeat stamp a sentiment from the new Hello Friend stamp between these two pieces.
  6. Add your die cut Butterfly using foam adhesive squares.
  7. Using a T-Ruler and one of the Black Fineliners, add a double border.

This is a monthly subscription plan for our Craft-A-Flower die set. When signed up, you are guaranteed a spot in our monthly Craft-A-Flower releases and will receive a set each month – at a specially discounted price! ($35.99 ?$29.99)

  1. Cool cards! I especially like your first card with the great background and all that shine.

  2. On your second card I love how you foiled and did some inking. Very striking!

  3. Craft a flower is one of my crafty subscription’s. I received this in the mail yesterday & made 4 blooms…….. BEAUTIFUL! Off to make cards with all of this blog inspiration. Very cool color choices. I like the random card with the black butterfly.

  4. Love the sparkle peeking out from the background of the first card!
