Hey Crafty People!
Last month Altenew celebrated their 8th Anniversary, and they created a gorgeous and HUGE floral layering stamp set to mark the occasion! I created two cards for this release and I’m excited to share them with you now!
Beautiful, Natural Florals
This floral stamp set really is HUGE; it is a full US Letter sized set and it creates this beautiful floral bunch which you can see easily fills up an a2 card size.
It is definitely one of those sets which I would stamp several of at the same time and store the leftovers in the back of the packaging for a later date.
For this first card, I kept to some ‘natural’ colours; using colours from the Red Sunset, Martian Terrain & Tropical Forest ink families.
After die cutting the image I added foam adhesive to the back ready to add to an a2 card panel. (For some added interest & texture, I 3d embossed the card panel with the Curving Leaves folder.)
I added a sentiment from the same stamp set and a few clear droplet embellishments to finish off the design.
Dramatic & Moody Slimline
For this design, I chose a more dramatic colour palette, stamping my image with Rock Collection for the flowers and Tranquillity for the leaves & centre. Again, I die cut it once finished and set it aside to work on my background.
The background for this was a bit of a journey to be honest! I knew that I wanted to use that label piece that I cut and embossed for a previous release but never got around to finishing, so I started there.
I positioned a die cut Slimline Nesting Label offset, within the Scallop Circle embossing folder. Then, using a domed foam ink blender, I gently applied Gold Pigment ink over the scalloped detail. Once I was happy with that, I also added some to the very edges of the embossed label. This helps it to stand out and really pop off the white slimline background panel.
The image was so large that it went over the sides of the panel, so I trimmed it down at the edges, then reused those pieces to fill in by tucking them under the main piece.
For the sentiment I stamped and cut it into a strip, then added Gold Pigment ink to another strip and trimmed this into two fishtail banner pieces which I attached to the back of my sentiment strip.
