Hey Crafty People!
This time around we have TWO fab sponsors and an extra special Birthday theme for our challenge entries; so we hope you play along and help us in wishing Aud Sentiments a Happy 10th Birthday!!!
I chose this adorable Chibi style girl with a balloon by LeeAnn’s World 101 very appropriately titled ‘Happy Crafty Birthday’.
I absolutely love this sweet girl and I had a lot of fun colouring her. I printed her onto alcohol marker friendly paper and used a mixture of Copics and Pro/Brushmarkers by Winsor & Newton.
Adding a splash of colour…
I was a little out of my comfort zone with this project; I am much more comfortable with a bold, beautiful floral image, but if you don’t ever leave your comfort zone how can you ever hope to expand it?!
I knew exactly which part I would find the most trouble with, the hair, so I started there in case I made a mistake too big to fix and/or conceal. (That way I wouldn’t have the pressure of potentially wasting the work I’d done on the rest of the image.)
I’ve never been happy with the hair I have attempted in the past, but I have been working really hard on my Copic skills so I felt like it was time to push myself to try again.
I just took my time with her, choosing 4 colours from very light to darker so that I could get that depth of colour but still maintain clear highlights. I started with my lightest colour, working my way through to darkest then back again.
The main difference I made this time was allowing the ink time to dry between each layer; this made such a huge difference! Usually you want the alcohol to work its magic on the pigments to allow a smooth blend; but in this case I wanted to see those strokes and the different tones because that is what creates that texture of hair. I’m really happy that I pushed myself to do this and I have gained some added confidence with Copic colouring that I hope encourages me to widen my ‘zone’ more often!
I finished colouring the rest of her, fussy cut her and added some Glossy Accents to her balloon to give it some shine & dimension!
Assembling my card…
I decided to up the fun factor by turning this extra special card into a shaker! I die cut a fun hexagon shape and added some Acetate using Tombow Mono liquid glue. I added a fun random mix of sequins and tiny gems.
I added a strip of Washi tape to ground my little character and a Happy Birthday sentiment strip.
I can’t wait to see what everyone makes for this extra special 10th Birthday challenge!!

Hey Crafty People!
Please be aware:
As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.
Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.
