Well this week has flown by! I went through of yesterday blissfully unaware that it was Thursday!! There’s really nothing to distinguish one day from the next right now, thank goodness for Gracie giving me an anchor point on a Friday!!

Coffee Queen is this week’s release and it is full of caffeinated, floral goodness with the greatest sassy sentiments!

I tried a bit of an experiment with this one, and I’m really happy with how it turned out!!!

As soon as I saw this week’s release I could almost taste the coffee goodness; back in the time before Covid we would go out for a coffee a couple of times a week. It was our little treat to ourselves when the kids were at school, a mini date! Those coffee dates feel like a distant memory these days

.I decided to use White Puff embossing powder from WOW! to give me a 3d cream to sit on top of my delicious coffee. I used a Versamark pen to add sticky ink onto the are I wanted to emboss, added the powder and heated it until it puffed up. Then I repeated this several more times, but adding my ink more carefully, building up natural hills & valleys as a pile of cream would have.

I added very light shadows to the valleys to give it a little more definition and then I added a sprinkling of cocoa on the top; looks good enough to eat!

I kept the colouring on the cup very simple, adding some shadow to either side of the cup but maintaining that centre highlight to show that it is a curved surface. I used cool greys on the cup, so I used warm greys to add a shadow beneath to ground the cup. I used my favourite red & greens combos for the flower and leaf.

I used the Versamark pen again to add sticky ink to the down strokes of the sentiment and stamens of the flower and added clear sparkle embossing.
