Today I want to talk all about using your ink pads in a wider variety of ways.
Those bright, luscious colours you get from your Crisp Dye Ink are perfect for stamping, but they can be used in so many other amazing ways too!! Once you start exploring these different ways, you open up your supplies to be used & stretched that much more.
Painting with your inks
Then I smooshed the ink pad onto my glass mat and used a wet brush to pick up the pigment and add it straight to the flower. I love watercolouring with dye inks, such a quick & convenient way to add colour that really packs a punch!!
As part of my AECP course I recently completed their irresistible inking techniques
online course and it has my creative juices flowing in so many exciting directions! I chose two really simple ways to use my inks for this project; one is a way I’ve used many times, the other is one I had never thought of before! I thought it would be fun to pair these two techniques onto a single card.
I started with the flower, stamping one of the long stems from the Wild Hibiscus stamp set onto some watercolour cardstock. (I didn’t use a massively textured paper but I knew I would have to stamp at least twice, and I wanted to be sure I got a good, clear image so I used my MISTI. I had decided I didn’t want a harsh black line, instead I wanted the lines to be clearly visible, but still subtle, so I used blue for the flower and green for the stem. I let these dry for a couple of minutes so that the ink outlines would stay visible, even after getting wet
New to me background inking technique
I used a technique I had never thought or heard of before to create my background! I just love learning new things!!
I chose a yellow ink and smooshed it straight onto an acrylic stamping block, I gave it a quick spray of water and pressed it straight onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. I did it twice to get a better coverage and that was my background done!!!

I fussy cut my flower and popped it up on some foam tape over the yellow ink and added a quick sentiment from my tub of pre stamped & cut sentiment strips (I batch make them, with loads of different sentiments and then they are there whenever I am making a card!)
I popped the whole panel up on foam tape onto a 7×5 Kraft card base, leaving a large border around the panel. Then I finished it with a quick stitch pattern border done in 0.2 black fine liner.
