Today I’m joining the Altenew Dreams Come True Video Hop, sharing my best tips & tricks for die cutting multiple layering stamped images. Technique Basics
I know it can seem like a daunting task to stamp out loads of multi layering stamps, especially the fiddly ones. Then to have to line up those dies, taping them into place and running through your machine…for each & every one…Ooooof!!! I don’t know about you, but I could do without that!!!
So I’m sharing my preferred method, and trust me, it’s SO MUCH quicker & easier!!!
Die Cutting Multiple Layering Stamped Images
Card 1 – Rainbow Pencil Crayons
I wanted a rainbow of colour on this card, so I stamped out a pencil for each colour of the rainbow, even adding different coloured tips for each one.
I made each one sturdier, by adding a strip of 110lb cardstock behind, this also helps give them a bit of dimension which is nice.
After adding a stamped & die cut ‘teacher’, I stamped a sub sentiment onto the card panel directly and added a rainbow of sparkly gems! LOVE IT!
Card 2 – Repeat Images
This type of design looks like it would take so many more die cuts than I actually used! Each line looks like it has multiple die cuts but it’s actually just the one! I positioned each one to be in a different position and then I cut the part that was overhanging and reused it on the other side of the panel. (I added a 110lb strip of cardstock behind each of these die cuts to add some dimension too.
Another stamped and die cut ‘teacher’ and this time, a sub sentiment strip. with a bunch of yellow gems to embellish.
Card 3 – An Apple A Day
When I had finished the repeating background I had one pencil left, so I stamped out one of the apples from the set and added these two pieces, (using a double cardstock layer behind the apple to raise it more.)
Then to add a subtle shadow beneath the objects, I used my C00, C1 & C3 Copic markers. This just helps to ground the objects and is more visually pleasing.
I stamped out both parts of the sentiment directly onto the a2 card panel and added some red & yellow gems to embellish the design.
