Hey Crafty People!
I love this new Holiday Express die set from Spellbinders and it pairs so beautifully with the EZ-Lights from Pear Blossom Press, so I just HAD to make it! 😀 I’m calling this one my EZ-Light Up Polar Express!
EZ-Light Up Polar Express
- Cut the various pieces needed to make up the Holiday Express train from green, red, gold and grey cardstock. Piece together the train, as per the instructions, but trim the very front portion of the light housing to allow for the LED.
- Attach one of the LEDs to the front of the train, and the other two behind the window section. (Adding Vellum in this window area will soften the lights.) Use tape to fix the wires to the back of the train to conceal them.
- Insert the battery into the housing by just sliding it in, matching the positive sides. Fix the button/battery to the back of the little trailer with strong double sided adhesive.
PRO TIP! Keep testing the lights are still working, and that everything is positioned well by pressing the button at every stage. - Don’t forget to stamp over the button to let your recipient know their card has a special surprise! ?
Let’s Make A Card
- Create a sparkly background by repeating the letterpress technique with the Twilight Sparkle Strip foil plate and Gold Pigment ink. This plate is a strip, so you need to run it through twice to cover an a2 panel, but he careful not to smudge the Gold ink. Trim down the panel to 4×5.25in and attach to an a2 panel of the green cardstock.
- Add two layers of foam adhesive to the train, around each part of the light and mechanism then fix the whole thing to your card panel. (Two layers of regular foam tape should be enough to give space for the battery pack, and allow you to press the button easily but just play around with your foam tape to figure out how thick you need to make it.)
- Stamp a sentiment from the Mix n Match Mailbox Greetings, and die cut using a banner die. (This one is from a previous month’s card kit which is no longer available unfortunately.)
- Layer up the sentiment banner with some decorative elements and pop this all up on foam adhesive on the card panel.
- OPTIONAL: Glue small tufts of cotton wool on your card to look like steam coming from the engine.
