Hey Crafty People!
Today I’m going to stamp and colour an entire panel using my Alcohol Markers. Keep watching for my tips to getting smooth & beautiful results.
How to Stamp and Colour an Entire Panel Using Alcohol Markers
- Begin by stamping your berries in a random pattern using acrylic blocks instead of a MISTI for quicker results. Although you’re not using the MISTI, place a mouse pad underneath for better stamping results. All stamps used today are from Streamside Studios, featuring the adorable Strawberry Cows. Start with the largest berries and work your way down to the smallest, filling in gaps along the edges to complete the design. Let the stamped panel dry overnight to avoid smudging when colouring.
- Start colouring the stems and leaves using your Copic markers. Use a lighter shade first, then add a darker shade for shadow. For larger leaves, incorporate a medium shade for a three-colour blend. Apply the darker colour on one side of the stems and leaves to create a simple yet effective shadow.
- For the berries, use a different technique to achieve a smooth, round appearance. Begin by colouring the entire berry with the lightest red shade. Use five shades in total to blend, starting with the darkest shade around the edges to create shadow, and gradually working towards the lightest shade for highlights. For smaller berries, skip the initial full-color step to avoid oversaturating the paper.
Colouring the Background
- Once the berries are coloured, move on to the background. Choose blue markers and test them on scrap paper. Ensure your marker is well-inked before starting. Colour in sections, keeping strokes in the same direction. After one layer, go over the entire panel again in the opposite direction to smooth out the colour. For added dimension, use a darker blue to add shadows under each berry.
- Use the A2 Postage Collage die to cut the panel, saving both the positive and negative pieces.
Assembling the Card
- Stamp additional images from the same set with Black Versafine ink, emboss them with Clear Gloss, and colour with Copics. Add highlights with a white gelly roll pen.
- Cut a smaller postage die from vellum to create a base for your images without obscuring the background. Arrange your elements on the vellum and adhere them with foam adhesive for dimension. Attach the vellum piece to the panel using liquid glue, ensuring to hide the adhesive behind the images to avoid visibility through the vellum. Pop the background panel onto an A2 Neenah Solar White card base with foam tape.
- Emboss your sentiment onto black sentiment stock from Pear Blossom Press. Use Super Fine Opaque Bright White WOW embossing powder and Unicorn White Pigment ink from Hero Arts for a crisp result. Apply anti-static powder before embossing to avoid fingerprints affecting the outcome. Trim the sentiment, color the edges with a black marker to hide the white core, and adhere it to the card with foam squares for added dimension.
Two-For-One Boba Fun!
- After completing the main card, use the negative piece from the die cut to create a second background. Incorporate new images, such as the adorable Boba-loving Pandas from a newer stamp set, to make another delightful card!
