Ink Blending Floral Mindfulness | Floral Garden Panel Alex | Syberia Designs

Hey Crafty People!

I absolutely love this design, and I knew I wanted to get it onto my desk right away, so I printed it onto Neenah 80lb with the intention of colouring with my Copics. But when I sat down to colour I just wasn’t feeling the Copics.

Do you ever have days like that, where you just aren’t feeling it, for whatever reason?

I think I was tired and frazzled after another day of home schooling, and I just wanted to make something beautiful but without the effort needed to choose my Copic blends and slowly, meticulously colour each individual petal and leaf.

So without really thinking about it, I put on some music, grabbed a few Altenew mini ink cubes and some mini ink blending tools, and just started to lay down some colour.

I used the mini ink blending brushes from Altenew to add various shades of pink to the petals of the flowers. Using all four colours from the Cherry Blossom ink family, I added the darkest colour close to the base of the petals, allowing it to fade out to lighter colours towards the end of the petals.

I used Fresh Lemon & Maple Yellow from the Sunshine In My Pocket family for the flower centres, again allowing that warmth to spread over into the base of the petals too. Then I used Sweet Leaf and Just Green from Green Meadows family for the leaves.

I really wasn’t careful to stop the colours from blending over into each other, because I wanted to just add colour for the love of the process. I really wasn’t even sure that I would use the panel, but I think I was heading for getting a soft look across the whole panel.

Once I was happy with the inked colour and feeling much more sane, I grabbed my Arteza coloured pencils and started to define the shapes of each distinct petal a bit more.

I had so much fun just mindfully colouring.

I concentrated on the part of the image I was colouring and the music swirling round me; and I really got lost in it. I find that so peaceful.

I finished my design with some gold paint splatters, a black cardstock frame, and a sentiment embossed in Gold; both of which I already had in my stash from extras I’ve made in previous crafty sessions. I added my favourite sparkling black sequins to add some extra interest, and honestly, just because I love them!
