Let It Shine! – AECP Level 1 Post 9

As the title suggests this one is all about different ways to add some glam to your cards with an injection of sparkle & shine!

I knew exactly what I wanted to make for this class because I had the gorgeous Exotic Garden large stamp sitting on my desk begging to be played with! I stamped it onto some Neenah Solar White with Versamark ink and embossed it in Platinum embossing powder from WOW! That was my first addition of some sparkle, but there would be so much more!!!

I coloured the flowers from the bouquet using my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens; they are an alcohol ink based brush marker that packs both a pigmented & glittery punch which would be just perfect for this topic!!!

I chose a couple of my marker colours for each different flower and set about colouring. As I said these are alcohol based so they work perfectly on Neenah and they blend like a dream!!!

Once all of the flowers were coloured I used pencil crayons to colour the leaves, choosing several different blending pairs to offer some diversity between the different plants.

I added a sentiment strip that is white embossed onto black, cutting the strip so that I could stack each piece. I popped them up on foam adhesive at fun angles in the middle of my large image. (This is a technique I’ve seen Kristina Werner do previously and I really wanted to try it!)

I fussy cut the entire bouquet, leaving a white border all of the way round. I was planning on adding it to a white cardbase, but I didn’t feel that the flowers were sparkling as much as they could; they didn’t pop! So I ran all round the edge of the flowers with a cool grey brushmarker and that brightened them right up!!

I added some texture into the background by scoring a card panel every 0.5inches which gives you that tone on tone texture in the background.

My final design features metallic shine from the embossed lines and glittery sparkle coming straight from those stunning blooms themselves.
